From the Principal
Happy Friday RedHawk Families:
Next week is the last week of the 3rd quarter and wow, this school year is flying by! Please be sure to take a few minutes this weekend with your RedHawk and check their classes on Schoology (and/or Home Access Center) to complete and turn in any last minute assignments they are able to make-up. We want each student to show what they know and are able to do. And please be sure to contact your child's teacher(s) if you have any questions or concerns.
As you know, I think phone calls are better than emails, so don't hesitate to ask them the give you a call for serious issues.
Enjoy your weekend!
Tim

Exploratory Course Selections Were Due Back Today!
Just a gentle reminder- we need your student's completed exploratory course selection forms turned in if you haven't done so already. They were sent home on Thursday, February 29th, with our current 6th and 7th grade students. They were due back to the building by today, March 8, 2024.
Please note that these are district forms. Please turn them in even if you aren't sure which middle school your student will be attending next year. We want to get their course selections documented.

Attendance Matters
Build Routines
Increase Engagement
Provide Access to resources
Support Learning
Routines: A daily attendance routine can help you reduce stress and develop habits that help you keep a job.
Engagement: Being in school gives you a chance to see your friends and build relationships with school staff.
Access to Resources: When you show up to school, you can get access to meals, health services, mental health supports and enrichment activities (sports, clubs, music, afterschool and summer programs, etc.).
Learning: You are more likely to pass classes and graduate from high school when you miss less than a week of school each semester.
Did you know:
*Students should miss no more than 5 days of school each year to stay engaged, successful and on track to graduation. *Frequent absences can be a sign that a student is losing interest in school, struggling with school work, dealing with a peer issue or facing some other difficulty. *By 6th grade, absenteeism is one of three signs that a student may drop out of high school. *By 9th grade, attendance is a better predictor of graduation rates than 8th grade test scores. *Missing 10% or 2 days a month, over the course of a school year, can affect a student's academic success.
Here's is what you can do as a parent/guardian: *If your student is fever free, encourage them to attend school. This is a life skill. As adults, we still go to work with headaches, allergies, and being sore from activities. *If you are struggling to get your student to school or dealing with school refusal, we have staff here to support your family. Reach out to your Student Support Coordinator, Denise Hooks (last names A-Luh) or Melissa Hickman ( last names Lui-Z).

5 Essentials Survey
One of the ways I get feedback is through the Illinois 5 Essentials Survey. Each year parents take this survey to let us know how we are doing as a school, and how I am doing as a leader.
Can you please take 10 minutes to complete this survey? I like to get to about 50% of our parents/guardians taking this survey, so the sooner we hit that target, the sooner I can quit asking you!
Here is the link to the survey. It is in Spanish and English.
Please be sure to put in Kane County as our county so you can find Wredling. Also, please read the questions and possible answers carefully as they sometimes mix up the "importance" of the responses.
Thank you in advance for your feedback!

Saints Helping Hawks
Just a reminder that SHH is an afterschool tutoring program and an extension of our school day. ALL students must follow WMS Guidelines for Success.
Along with the Guidelines for Success, student are expected to:
- stay the entire time unless parent communication is provided
- must be seated with a tutor (even if they just need a quiet space to work)
- working quietly and not disturbing others
- stay off ALL technology during the session unless it is teacher approved
- to bring all necessary materials to the LRC so that they can use the work time appropriately.
There are no exceptions to these rules. If students are not following the above, they will be asked not to return to SHH. There has been an uptick in disruptive behaviors at SHH and we want to ensure this is a productive and positive environment for students. If you have any questions about SHH please reach out to Mrs. Batka, Ms. Brummel, Mrs. Gonzalez, & Mr. Vale.
