We are Amazing on Purpose
September 1-14, 2024
Our students deserve the best education and will receive one through respect for one another, pride in our school, and giving our best even when no one is looking.
Our words have power; when used respectfully, we can help, heal, and support one another.
A few words from Dr. Wallace...
It is a great day to be a Hanrahan Bulldog-Warrior! Where we strive to BE AMAZING ON PURPOSE!
The two weeks of school went exceptionally well! Students arrived and were dismissed safely. As a reminder, breakfast is available to all students each morning at 7:15 a.m., and dismissal begins with our walkers at 2:55 p.m.
This is the first of our biweekly newsletter; please read through each section. You may return to the newsletter at any time. To the left you will find a Table of Contents to skip to relevant sections.
I realize now that families were unaware of the district's clear backpack implementation for this school year. I apologize for the lack of communication. We will require all Hanrahan students to use clear backpacks. Each student received a JSD clear backpack; however, they may use one that has been purchased by a parent/guardian. It must be transparent.
Thank you, Hanrahan Family, for adhering to the uniform policy. These policies will assist our district in keeping our JSD school community safe and recognizing our JSD students in the community.
Great News:
This week, we proudly celebrate the announcement of our College Prep students who have been newly accepted into the program! Each parent should have received a welcome letter, and we will have more information about the College Prep program during Open House.
Please check ClassDojo and your email for messages from Hanrahan teachers and Dr. Wallace throughout the week to ensure you remain current with all the information we may have shared.
We will take each day, week, and month at a time. We are excited to start the year, but if you have questions, concerns, or suggestions, please don't hesitate to call us. I can be reached by email (wallacem@jenningsk12.us) or cell phone (314-220-5435).
Let's continue to be AMAZING ON PURPOSE!

1. Always look out for our students and staff crossing.
2. Please pull forward in the drop-off/pick-up lanes to allow the cars behind you to drop off/pick up students.
3. On the map, the red lines correspond to drop-off and pick-up lane directions.
4. For safety purposes, please do not go around cars during dismissal unless the traffic director motions for you. This is due to our small parking lot.
H.E. Personal Device Policy and Practice: Minimize to Maximize

Students’ cell phones and personal electronic devices shall be off and away during the day at Hanrahan Elementary School
Our students will secure their cell phones each morning. To ensure the device's security, we will use the Yondr pouches.
Here are the expectations of students:
- Personal electronic devices (cellular telephones, smartwatches, earbuds, and headphones) must be silenced and stored away as part of their morning routine.
- Students will not use personal electronic devices during the school day, including class time, breakfast, lunch, and bathroom breaks.
Without a doubt, this change will be a challenge for some of our students. However, the health benefits, school safety, and academic achievement data and research point to the benefits of having a personal device distraction free educational environment.
Attendance Matters
Hanrahan Elementary has been the standing district CHAMPS for the best attendance! Let's keep that up by being present each day.
The Jennings School District is unwavering in its commitment to preparing students for academic progression, success, and self-responsibility. To uphold this commitment, the district has established student attendance performance guidelines.
