Spreading Kindness This February!
February is a month of kindness, inclusion, and connection. With Valentine’s Day and Pink Shirt Day both highlighting the importance of love, respect, and standing up for others, this is a perfect time to remind our children about the power of positive relationships. Simple acts like lending a hand, welcoming someone new, or standing up for others can create a lasting positive impact. Let’s encourage our students to show kindness every day and build a school community where everyone feels valued and supported.

Pink Shirt Day – Wednesday, February 26, 2025
Pink Shirt Day is a powerful reminder of the importance of kindness, respect, and standing up against bullying. This day encourages us to foster an inclusive environment where everyone feels safe and valued. Students and staff are encouraged to wear pink to show their commitment to spreading kindness and promoting a culture of respect and acceptance. Let’s work together to make our school a place where everyone feels supported and included.
Strategies to Promote Kindness and Respect:
Model Positive Behavior: Children learn by example, so practice kindness, empathy, and respectful communication at home.
Encourage Open Conversations: Talk to your child about the impact of bullying and the importance of standing up for others.
Teach Conflict Resolution Skills: Help children learn how to express their feelings, listen actively, and find peaceful solutions to disagreements.
Promote Inclusion: Encourage your child to reach out to classmates who may feel left out and build friendships with a diverse group of peers.
Practice Daily Acts of Kindness: Small gestures, like giving a compliment or helping a friend, can make a big difference in creating a positive environment.
Counsellor’s Message
February is a month that reminds us of the importance of relationships and emotional well-being. As your school counsellor, I am here to support students as they navigate friendships, confidence, and self-expression. Pink Shirt Day is an important opportunity to discuss standing up for others, showing empathy, and creating an inclusive community. If your child is facing challenges or you have any concerns, please reach out. Together, we can continue to build a school where every child feels seen, heard, and valued.
Looking Ahead
With February’s focus on kindness and connection, let’s continue to encourage our children to build positive relationships and embrace challenges with courage and optimism. Thank you for your ongoing support in making our school community a wonderful place to learn and grow. Wishing you and your family a fantastic month ahead!
