Our Learning Community...
This week our 3rd-5th graders will start taking the Smarter Balanced Summative Assessments (SBAC) which are part of the state testing system called the California Assessment of Student Performance and Progress or CAASPP. The CAASPP System is designed to promote high-quality teaching and learning by giving information to teachers, students, and their families about what students know and can do.
Families can help us by making sure your student:
arrives at school on-time (by 7:45 a.m.)
gets a good night's sleep
eats a healthy breakfast each morning - Remember students can have breakfast before school (7:35 a.m. in the Cafe)
For more information on the CAASPP, please visit these links:
Leader in Me Family Survey
As you know our school is implementing the Leader in Me, which teaches 21st-century leadership and life skills to students and creates a culture of student empowerment based on the idea that every child can be a leader.
Our school will be conducting surveys to learn more about key areas of strength and areas of needed growth in our school. In order for us to have a holistic picture of what is going on in our school, we are asking all full-time staff members, parents/guardians, and students in Grade 4 and up to participate.
The survey is anonymous and completely voluntary, but we do hope to get feedback from one member of every household. The parent/guardian survey takes about 12 minutes to complete and will ask questions about your child and about his or her experience at Jones. If you have more than one child attending our school, you will be asked to think about the oldest child's experiences as you answer questions related to his or her growth.
You can take the Parent/Guardian survey at this link: https://www.leaderinme.com/s/jones-elementary/families
Please complete the survey by: May 16, 2024
Thank you for your support!
Heartfelt Thank you!
The entire Jones team would like to take a moment to extend our deepest gratitude to you and the amazing PTA members and family volunteers who generously gave their time, effort, and creativity to make Teacher & Staff Appreciation week truly special for all of us.
From the thoughtful decorations that adorned our doors, the delicious treats that filled our lounge, the daily notes and well wishes from students, to the beautiful luncheon in what felt like a flower garden, every detail was a testament to the boundless generosity and kindness of our community.
More than just the tangible gifts, your thoughtfulness and recognition mean the world to us. In a profession where the days can be long and the challenges many, knowing that we have such a supportive network behind us gives us the strength and motivation to keep feeling inspired each and every day.
This week was a reminder of the incredible synergy that exists between our school staff and our families. We cannot thank you enough for all that you do to make us feel so loved and appreciated.
