Family 2-10 through 2-14

From Mr. Dunham...
Last week we recognized our school counseling team and the help they provide to our students. Our school counselors do more than help create class schedules. They provide support to students who need it, they help families connect with community services, they provide kids with an adult who will listen to them, they act as advocates, and they support students who are in crises.
We are lucky to have a fantastic counseling team here at Harmony Middle.
- Ms. Libby-6th Grade
- Ms. Navarro-Allen-7th Grade
- Mr. Nowak-8th Grade
During this week we have a few items on the calendar:
- 3rd Quarter progress reports (Wednesday the 12th)
- Home basketball game vs. St. Cloud Middle (Wednesday the 12th)
- Candy Grams on sale during lunch ($2 each)
- Red, White, & Pink Dress Down Day (Friday the 14th)
Lastly, I wanted to take a moment to thank the parent volunteers that came out and supported the dance this past Friday. Your support makes a world of difference, and we appreciate your efforts. Thank you so much!
Curriculum & Instruction
Students, we want you here at school!
Our school year is flying by and our student's end of course assessments are quickly approaching. One of the best ways to ensure they are prepared is to be present and work hard every day.

Black History Month on the Announcements
February is Black History month and we will be sharing information all month via our morning announcements. See below for an introduction announcement and examples of our upcoming topics.
- "February is Black History Month. Black History Month celebrates Black history, culture and education. The Month of February is an annual celebration of achievements by African Americans and a time for recognizing their central role in U.S. history.
- The theme of Black History Month this year is, “African Americans and Labor," The month focuses on the ways that "work and working of all kinds—free and unfree, skilled, and unskilled, vocational and voluntary—intersect with the collective experiences of Black people."
- Did you know that President Gerald Ford was the first to officially recognize Black History Month in 1976, calling upon the public to “seize the opportunity to honor the too-often neglected accomplishments of Black Americans in every area of endeavor throughout our history.”
Topics via last weeks announcements included Jackie Robinson, Althea Gibson, Madame C. J. Walker and more.

Osceola Prosper, Class of 2025
For our families with high school seniors...
Thanks to the Osceola County Board of County Commissioners, our 2025 high school graduates will have the opportunity to go to college with no out-of-pocket cost for tuition through Osceola Prosper!
The County has allocated funds that will sponsor any tuition or school fees at Valencia College or Osceola Technical College that a student’s FAFSA does not cover. To take advantage of this opportunity, students and parents will need to complete all steps of the 2025-2026 FAFSA and be sure that it is successfully processed.
To take advantage of this amazing opportunity, parents and graduating students should also:
- Meet with their School Counselor to make sure they are on track to graduate with the high school diploma;
- Meet with their College & Career Counselor to ensure they complete the 2025-2026 FAFSA correctly and to be sure they complete all enrollment steps;
- Take advantage of upcoming Osceola Prosper Nights to get to know staff from Valencia College and Osceola Technical College to receive one-to-one help with all enrollment steps and FAFSA; and
- Plan to enroll in Valencia or oTECH no later than January 2026.
