October Newsletter
From Our Administration
We have made it through our first month of school. The students and staff are getting into a routine and we are off to a GREAT start. We have enjoyed doing our daily walkthroughs seeing the students and teachers working and building positive relationships. Arrival and Dismissal have been improving, but we continue to ask the families to be patient as there are a few buses that are habitually late. We will continue to notify you at dismissal of any late buses. During the month of October the PTO has an assembly planned on the 18th - ‘Good Character’ Magic Show. There will be a Halloween parade scheduled for the 31st, there will be more details to follow. Please utilize the website calendar to keep up to date with the activities of AES.

News from STEP
We had a great start to the school year in STEP class! STEP stands for Sparta Township Enrichment Program and consists of a whole school enrichment model. All classes in Kindergarten, First, and Second grade come to STEP once a week for a lesson. We started the month of September off becoming “experts” on computers. Students learned how to login, find Google Classroom, and even started to explore Google Slides and Clever. This year we will be focusing on our new Computer Science Program where all students will be taught the basics of coding using Code.org. We will continue our LEGO Engineering Program this year along with several STEAM challenges and critical thinking activities. I look forward to a fantastic year of challenging the young minds of Alpine in STEP class!
Thank you for all your support throughout the school year…Mrs. Christina Morrow
News from Senorita Kennedy
From September 15th - October 15th we are celebrating National Hispanic Heritage Month. Students are learning about all the different Spanish speaking countries and which ones are represented in our school community. We are also learning about notable Hispanic Americans and their contributions to the U.S.A. On my AES school website, there are 4 virtual activities students can complete at home with a family member to explore Spanish speaking countries. These activities are optional. Students who complete all 4 will receive a certificate and a prize at the end of October. This is the link to my website - https://sites.google.com/sparta.org/senoritakennedy/hispanic-heritage-month
Please let me know if you have any questions! Gracias!

Physical Education Information and Reminders
Hello all!
Welcome back to school! We are excited to have a wonderful and fun year with the students in Physical Education class. All classes will have PE class twice a week. It is really important that all students playing during class are wearing sneakers, or shoes that have rubber, flat bottoms. If your child would like to wear different shoes to school (boots, heels, crocs, etc.) please have them bring sneakers with them to school anyways. They are allowed to change into their sneakers in the gym, before class begins.
Thank you!

Nurse News
Welcome Back
This new school year brings a second nurse to Alpine School
Welcome to Kate Mccrossan RN.
Now that the school year is underway we would like to mention a few things from the nurse’s office
Please add extra clothing to your child’s backpack. You never know when that spill at lunch or fall in the mud may happen.
All our Pre-K students are required to have a flu shot before 12/31/2022
Check to make sure your mailbox of your phone is not full.
Emergency contacts should be within 20 minutes of Alpine School.
When sending in correspondence to the nurses office please use both the first and last name of your child.
If your child should require medication during the day (prescription or over the counter - daily or as needed)
It must be brought to school by an adult, no student can bring in or carry medication:
The medication is to be in the original labeled pharmacy container.
Each medication must have a note from the prescribing physician and parent with type of medication, dosage, time and frequency of administration.
