November 13, 2024 - Memorial of Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini
Good morning Saint Patrick families,
Today is the memorial of Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini and, I wanted to take a moment to reflect on her life and the valuable lessons she offers us today.
Mother Cabrini, as she was known, was a woman of faith, courage, and resilience. She was born in Italy in 1850 and, despite facing numerous obstacles—including her own health struggles—she became the first U.S. citizen to be canonized a saint. She established the Missionary Sisters of the Sacred Heart. While she hoped to me a missionary in China, she traveled to the United States to support the growing Italian immigrant population upon Pope Leo XIII's request. Her work took her to cities across the U.S., where she established schools, orphanages, and hospitals. She was known for caring for the poor, the sick, and the marginalized.
We can learn much from Mother Cabrini’s example. Her life calls us to see Christ in every person, particularly those who are vulnerable. She reminds us of the importance of perseverance, especially in the face of challenges, and of using our gifts to serve others. In a world that often focuses on self-promotion, Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini models humility and selflessness.
May the memorial of Saint Frances Xavier Cabrini inspire us all to live out our faith more fully and to embody her spirit of compassion and courage in all that we do.
Blessings,
Rick Logue
Anniversary of the Dedication of Saint Patrick Church
On Sunday, November 17, we will celebrate the anniversary of the dedication of Saint Patrick Church—a special day in our parish history! All are warmly invited to join us for the 10:30 a.m. Mass to honor this milestone together as a community of faith.
Following Mass, we’ll gather in the parish center for light refreshments, giving us all a chance to connect, celebrate, and reflect on the blessings we share. We hope to see you there as we mark this meaningful occasion in our parish’s long and wonderful journey!
Getting to Know Our Staff - Nikki Hume
High School: Tuscarawas Central Catholic High School, New Philadelphia, Ohio
College: Bachelor of Art in Art with a Minor in Art History from Otterbein College and a Masters in Education from The University of Akron.
Years at Saint Patrick School: This will be my 8th year at St.Patrick School. I taught for 4 years back in 2006 until I moved to San Francisco, California. When I moved back to Ohio, I came back to St.Pat’s for 3 years in 2018 until COVID hit and I decided to stay home with my newborn baby. Now I am currently back for a 3rd time!
What is your favorite thing about Saint Patrick School: This school has always held a special place in my heart! I feel very blessed to be here a third time. I love the people who work here and the families that attend here! I love the close knit faith based community, the feeling of belonging, and the positive inclusive environment that is created from the second you walk through the front doors of the school. I don’t think you could get this vibe anywhere other than a small school like St.Pats! Also, I feel like I get to do way cooler art projects in a school with smaller teacher/student ratios!!
Favorite Saint: My favorite saint is St.Nicholas. Nicholas was a family name on my dads side of the family going back many generations. Unfortunately, no boys were born into my family around the time I was born and being the baby of the family, my parents named me Nikki instead. (I also kept the tradition alive and named my oldest son Nicholas!)
I have always felt a connection to the name. St.Nicholas was my adopted confirmation saint when I was confirmed. I love his story of generosity and kindness. I believe small acts of kindness matter, and no matter how small can have a positive immeasurable impact on the lives of others. So share a smile or a kind word - it goes a long way!
- What are some of your hobbies? I love doing anything outdoors! I spend a lot of time exploring and hiking the Columbus Metro Parks. I like to go on hikes and I run. I’ve completed lots of half marathons and 3 full marathons! For as long as I have lived in Columbus I have never done The Cap City Half Marathon so I hope to do that in 2025. I love to travel and spend time with my family. And I enjoy watching my kids play all their sports and activities.
- What are your favorite sports teams? We are a big baseball family and are Cleveland Guardians fans. My two sons and husband are on a mission to visit every MLB stadium in the United States. So far we have hit 6 stadiums! And any chance we get, we love to go cheer on the Columbus Crew and go to Clippers games as well!
- What are your favorite foods? Homemade pasta! And dark chocolate!
- What are you looking forward to? I love that fall is fast approaching! I love the change of seasons and the cluster of holidays that are coming up! Halloween is one of my favorite holidays. My husband and I go full out on costumes every year with our kids. It's fun coming up with a family costume theme every year together.
- If you could have any superpower what would it be? If I could have any superpower it would be to complete any task at the snap of my fingers. Dishes?…snap…done! Hair brushed and curled?…snap…complete! Kids toys off the floor?...snap…put away!
- What is your favorite place you’ve visited? My husband surprised me with a trip to Australia for my 30th birthday. Fun Fact: When I was 10 years old my teacher enrolled my class in a Pen Pal exchange program. My pen pal was from Australia and I still keep in touch with her to this day! My pen pal and I both share the same birthday and we both have jobs in an art field. For my 30th birthday my husband took me to finally go meet her and explore Australia. Besides meeting my penpal, my next favorite part of the trip was snorkeling the Great Barrier Reef
Calendar Updates
We’re excited to share a fresh, streamlined approach to keeping you informed about all our school’s activities and events! In the past, we’ve provided multiple versions of our school calendar to ensure you had all the latest updates. While our Activities Calendar was a great tool, we found that multiple printed versions sometimes created confusion, especially as dates and details changed throughout the year.
To make it easier and more consistent for everyone, we’re now transitioning to a single, real-time source for our school events: our official Google Calendar! This calendar will be updated as events change, allowing you to always have the most current information at your fingertips.
You can access our Google Calendar by visiting our school website at www.stpatricklondon.org/school or directly at: School Google Calendar. (If the link doesn't work, please copy and paste the following web address into your web browser: https://calendar.google.com/calendar/embed?src=c_9tfcdsd611ovfe97ao2n1c8p24%40group.calendar.google.com&ctz=America%2FNew_York)
If you’d like to add this calendar to your personal Google Calendar, simply click on the link above and select “Add to Google Calendar” in the lower left corner of the page.
We hope this new approach helps everyone stay informed and connected throughout the school year.

Help House Thanksgiving Food Drive
We are well underway in our annual Thanksgiving Food Drive for Help House, and the response has been incredible! As Thanksgiving approaches, our school community is coming together to support families in need and share our blessings with others.
The drive runs through Friday, November 15, so there’s still time to contribute! Help House has shared their most-needed items to prepare Thanksgiving meals for local families: cans of corn, dry stuffing mix, gravy (in jars, cans, boxes, or packets of dry mix), and Jiffy muffin mix. Every donation, big or small, makes a difference in bringing comfort and joy to those who might otherwise go without.
We encourage all our students and families to continue bringing in these items this week. Thank you for embodying the spirit of Thanksgiving and for your generous support of this meaningful cause!
Book Fair!
Our Book Fair is in full swing, and we’re so excited to see students and families discovering a world of wonderful books! The fair will run through Friday, giving everyone the perfect chance to find stories that spark imaginations, inspire curiosity, and encourage a lifelong love of reading.
Special hours for the public: On Thursday, the Book Fair will be open from 2:00 to 7:00 pm during conferences, so feel free to stop by, browse, and pick up some great reads!
Students are welcome to visit the fair throughout the week, and we encourage families to join in too! Every purchase directly supports our school, helping us add even more resources to our classrooms. Whether you’re after a new adventure, a fun mystery, or a beloved classic, there’s something for everyone at the fair.
Thank you for supporting our school, and we can’t wait to see you there!
Parent-Teacher Conferences
We’re looking forward to connecting with you during our Family-Teacher Conferences tomorrow! This is a valuable time for us to discuss your child’s progress, celebrate their accomplishments, and make plans to support their continued growth.
Please note that conference sign-ups have officially closed. Closing sign-ups early allows us to finalize schedules, ensuring that each family has dedicated time with their child’s teacher and that teachers can prepare thoughtfully for each conversation. Thank you for helping us create a smooth experience for everyone!
Also, remember that tomorrow will be a two-hour early dismissal to accommodate our conference schedule. Please plan accordingly for pick-up or after-school care arrangements.
Saint Charles Honor/Merit Roll
Saint Charles Preparatory School recently announced its Honor and Merit Rolls for the first quarter of the 2024-2025 school year. Students on the Honor Roll have earned a GPA of 3.50 or higher, while those on the Merit Roll have achieved between a 3.00 and 3.49 GPA—great accomplishments all around!
We’re especially proud to congratulate our own Saint Patrick graduate, Clayton Knight, for earning a spot on the Merit Roll. Way to go, Clayton! Keep up the fantastic work!
FACTS Grants and Aid Application is Now Open!
The FACTS Grant and Aid application is now open, and we encourage all families to apply! This one simple application gives you access to several financial assistance options, including the Emmaus Road Scholarship, Diocesan Tuition Assistance, Saint Patrick Parish Grant, and Saint Patrick Tuition Assistance.
New this year: the application is more streamlined and only asks about income—no questions about expenses! Plus, we’ll reimburse any application fees for the 2025-2026 school year.
Don't miss out on this great opportunity for tuition support! Apply today and see what assistance is available for your family!
Giving Tree
It’s that time of year again! Next week, we’ll be putting up the Saint Patrick Catholic School Giving Tree! For those who are new to our school, the Giving Tree is a wonderful way for students to learn the true spirit of Christmas—celebrating the birth of our Lord and the joy of giving to others.
Here’s how it works: Students are welcome to take a tag from the tree, each with a gift suggestion. They can also bring in hats, gloves, or even Walmart gift cards, which are always appreciated!
If your family would like to participate, please return gifts by Friday, December 6, and keep them unwrapped.
Thank you for helping us make this a season of generosity and joy. Your kindness makes a big difference!
