Hungate Echo
Autumn Term, Week 6
A word from Mr Broom
What a super week with lots to celebrate. I'll start by telling you all about the writing moderation that we had on Wednesday. As you will know, we're part of STARMAT academy and we often work together to improve teaching for all children in all schools. We've recently been working on writing and we received colleagues from Sherburn High and Brayton to see how we're doing. I'm delighted to say that writing at SHP is progressing rapidly and our approach is a very consistent one, meaning more children are achieving well. A huge thank you to the team and to the children who were very keen to share their learning with our visitors.
Next week, our teachers are embarking on more Forest School training. It seems that our Forest School is a huge hit with the children and they're learning lots in there.
Have a super weekend everyone.

Please can you add these to your calendar and consider arranging work commitments in readiness for your family consultation?

Parking Reminder
Parking:
Put simply, parking is a real issue in the streets near the main entrance of school, and as we expand, it's not going to get any better or safer. I've had many telephone calls and emails from local residents regarding 'near misses' and driveways being blocked by cars around pick up and drop off. For what seems like an ever-recurring message, please take care and be considerate when parking in the street and where possible, utilise the Co-op and Sherburn White Rose car parks.
Staff Car Park:
We've had a few instances recently where parent/carers have driven into the school car park at drop-off and pick up without expressed permission from the school. Unless you have such permission, please do not enter the school gates. Thank you.
Packed Lunches
We've noticed that there seems to be an increasing number of children on pack-ups who are bringing chocolate, crisps and other unhealthy items. It's important that children have a healthy, balanced lunch to maximise their learning opportunities in the afternoon. Fruits, cheeses and a sandwich are great alternative options and really give the boost of energy needed in the afternoon sessions.
Staff Shoutouts
Staff shoutouts are back for 24-25 and there's no better way of helping to keep our staff morale high than letting them know how you think.
Happy Staff + Happy Children = Happy Family.
If you can spare a minute or two to let someone know how great they are, it would be much appreciated, especially at this challenging time for us all. Thank you.

Following feedback from our parent governors, we've updated the way that the weekly Hungate Echo works so that it is sharper with information you need. A new newsletter, known as the Echo Regulars will contain all the most important regular information that our families may need. It has a permanent home on our website at the link below. Here you will find community events, regular reminders and key information. When I update it, I'll put a short line at the bottom of the Hungate Echo to let you know.
