MIDDLE SCHOOL STUDENTS:

All ZQuest walkers and car riders are asked to be dropped off NO EARLIER than 7:20am (there is no gathering in common spaces during phase 4 or 5) at the EAST WING DOORS (ZQUEST WING). School will begin at 7:35am, so if you are after 7:35am, you will need to come to the main office to check your child in. This is very different than what we have done in the past, so please note the change.

Pick up for ZQuest walkers and car riders will be in the EAST Parking Lot ONLY at 2:30pm (please DO NOT use the bus loop or the west parking lot for pick up). Due to strict protocols, we will not be able to allow students to wait for their younger ZQ siblings at 3:40pm. They will need to be picked up right away at the end of their day.

Bus riders will still enter the main doors of the building after being dismissed one bus at a time to reduce congestion of students entering at once. Dismissal will be staggered as well.

ELEMENTARY STUDENTS:

All ZQuest walkers and car riders are asked to be dropped off NO EARLIER than 8:25am (there is NO morning recess due to regulations, so students will be entering classrooms immediately) at the EAST WING DOORS (ZQUEST WING). School will begin at 8:40am, so if you are after 8:40am, you will need to come to the main office to check your child in. This is very different than what we have done in the past, so please note the change.

If your child is attending ZKids, they have their own drop off and pick up procedure that they will share with you.

Due to COVID-19, we are not able to have families walk their student to their class. We hope you understand that we are trying to limit the number of people in the hallways that are already occupied by students. We will be doing our best to physically keep students at an appropriate distance during arrival and dismissal. Because we are entering the school from our hallway (for those who are walkers or being dropped off by an adult), they will have only one hallway to navigate. Those who are bus riders, please let us know if you feel that they may need more assistance and we will be sure to meet them at the bus and help teach them how to get to class!

You are welcome to take pictures of your kiddos outside the EAST WING doors/grassy area, however we are asking that you are mindful of keeping a safe distance from other families/students and MASK UP!

Due to COVID, we are unable to have students from different households share locker space, however we are able to have siblings share! Because we want to keep our classrooms as free of clutter as possible, for safety reasons, we have combined our siblings as locker partners. Please take a look at this LOCKER ASSIGNMENT document. Lockers will have students names on them, however those families with more than 2 children at ZQuest will need to know who they are sharing with! You will be able to find your children, note the locker number and let them know which sibling they are with. ANY 6th-8th grader will NOT have a locker, but they do have an assigned HOOK in the commons area.

• Parent Website at http://www.zquestparents.com/. This site is our MAIN place of information and should become a habit to look at for reminders and answers. If we need to point out something specific, Leslie will send it in an email with attachments and teachers will do so as well in their classrooms!

• You can also find information on our Parent’s Facebook page located at ZQuest Parents if you search for us on Facebook. This is ONLY a place for reminders and parent engagement and sharing. This is NOT where we store information or publish information that must get to parents.

• NEW this year, due to the uncertainty of how things will settle with COVID-19, we are going to try communication through REMIND. This will primarily be for reminders and should school be cancelled in-person due to COVID or should we have a fog delay or snow day (I can’t believe I’m talking about snow!). Your child’s teachers may set up a classroom REMIND as well. They will come to you in the same way and will tell you who the REMIND message is from.

With the uncertainty of in-person instruction vs. remote instruction, we want to make sure that our students are prepared and ready for anything. ZPS is moving to 1:1 technology, where iPads go back and forth with students in grades K-12th grade. This is a big shift for us and super exciting! We will be taking the first week with students to discuss iPad expectations at school (for both at home and in school) BEFORE we begin to send them back and forth.

Elementary students DO NOT set up an Apple ID, Student Portal or HS Email (this is all part of the insurance/ipad set up flyer linked below)

With this change, we are requiring iPad Insurance for all students. Information on how to get insurance and cost breakdowns can be found HERE and information on setting up your insurance can be found HERE.

Don’t worry! You will see many of the same staff that you’ve seen in the past! Of course, we have new staff as well!

• We would love to WELCOME Miss Victoria Grace to our team. She will be teaming up with Mrs. Villanueva, and teaching 4th grade reading and math and will teach 3rd/4th grade science.

• We would also like to WELCOME Mrs. Katelyn Hamstra to our paraprofessional team. She will be working primarily with our middle school students, offering additional help to them.

• We would also like to WELCOME Mrs. Karen Brozovich. Mrs. Brozovich will be teaching our kindergartners while Mrs. Zimmer takes some time off when Baby Zimmer arrives (on or near Sept. 19).

If your child will need ANY medications given to them during the school year, the correct MEDICAL FORM must be FILLED OUT AND SIGNED by your child's doctor BEFORE we can begin to give meds.
