How Can We Start Getting Ready for School?
It is hard to believe, but students start back one month from tomorrow (on Thursday, August 8). Over the next few weeks, we will provide guidance so you and your child can transition easily to the new school year. 1. Updating Contact Information for Returning Student Verification--So many problems can be solved if parent contact information is accurate and updated. (You should have received an email from the district on May 8 for how to do this. If you need assistance, contact Mrs. Miskelly at mailto:jmiskelly@rhmail.org.) If you have a new cell phone number, a new email address, or a new physical address, please update it. Also, be sure to check that all information is the correct spelling and numbers. Often a parent will not receive calls and emails from the school because the contact information is not updated and correct. This information is vitally important in the event of an emergency. 2. Updating Emergency Contact List--Whoever you list as an emergency contact is who you give permission to pick up your child and who can come to eat lunch with your child. Before the year starts, please think through who your support team will be. Know that we don't want to turn anyone away, but if he/she is not on the emergency contact list, we will not allow him/her to access your child. Who will you call to come and get your child if school dismisses early or you can't leave work? Be sure to put them on the list. 3. Provide Proof of Residence--All returning families need to provide a current utility bill (electric or gas) or a lease agreement to verify your place of residence. These can be scanned and emailed to Mrs. Miskelly at the above email address. 4. School Supplies--Feel free to go ahead and secure school supplies for your child. Here is the link to access each grade level's supply list: https://www.rock-hill.k12.sc.us/cms/lib/SC01000464/Centricity/Domain/1637/Cherry%20Park%20Supply%20List%202024.pdf You can also click on the button below. If you need any help securing supplies for your child, please contact our school counselors, Mrs. Flaherty and Ms. Baskin (mailto:rflaherty@rhmail.org or mailto:mbaskin@rhmail.org). We hope you will continue enjoying time with your family this summer. We appreciate your help and support as we work together to prepare for the best year ever for your child.
Strength and Blessings,
Mr. Maness
P.S. As we get closer to the start of the new year, life will get more busy (and stressful.) By taking care of these items now, it will save you time and energy later.
