BSU and Global Diversity Experience
The MHS Black Student Union and Global Diversity class took a field trip to the The DuSable Black History Museum and Education Center in Chicago, the first and oldest independent Black History Museum in the country.
The kids were great! They learned so much about African American history both nationally and in Chicago. After their time at the museum, they went to the Bronzeville Soul, which is a Black-owned soul food restaurant in the heart of a historically majority Black neighborhood called Bronzeville in Chicago. What a terrific time!
LETTUCE Begin
It was seed starting time in Ms. Pliska's room. Ms. Pliska and the Eco Club maintain a garden area outside of her classroom.

Join us for McFarland's DECA Book Drive!
Do you have books at home that you're ready to part with? We're thrilled to announce our book drive and would love to collect them from you! Whether it's children's books, novels, or textbooks, we welcome them all!
Drop off your books at any of the McFarland School Buildings: CEPS, WIS, IMMS, MHS. We've also partnered with several local businesses where you can drop off your donations: Gingerbread House, McFarland House Cafe, Grace Coffee, Peony's Parlor, and CLM!
All donated books will be given to the Madison Reading Club, spreading the love of literature to those who need it most.
And here's something special: don't forget to follow our Facebook page for Bedtime Stories with DECA Members! Our members will be reading stories for bedtime, creating magical moments for kids and families alike.

Student Services
Attendance
The best and most accurate way to report your student's attendance is via IC. You are able to enter your request directly into IC at any time of day, even for short notice requests. (Instructions). If you are concerned that the office staff is not receiving your IC absence request, please make sure you allow push notifications for the Infinite Campus app on your phone. Once the IC request is processed you will get a notification.
Health Services
Bridging Brighter Smiles Dental Clinic
Bridging Brighter Smiles Dental Clinic will be back at MHS on Tuesday, April 30th and Wednesday, May 1st for their spring visits! It's not too late to enroll! See flier information for more details and how to enroll; as well as the MSD Health Service website for additional Dental Resources.
Parent/Guardian & Emergency Contact Information
Emergencies can happen at any time, so it is crucial that school staff, especially Health Services staff, are able to get in contact with a parent/guardian or an emergency contact during the school day. Please take a moment to review your students' listed emergency contacts in the IC parent portal to ensure the information listed is the most current. If there are special circumstances where you know you will not be available for calls during a specific time of day or if school staff should utilize an alternate phone number such as an office line, please ensure that this is communicated and/or make sure that your listed emergency contacts are aware of this, as health office staff may need to contact them if your student is seen in the health office and parent/guardian notification is required. To make changes to your emergency contacts please see here for steps to update contact information. Thank you for our partnership in helping to keep our students safe and healthy!
