What is PAC?
PAC is Open To New Members for the 2024 -2025 School Year!
Are you seeking a way to support your child's education, get more involved with the school, and help with planning and supporting school events?
If so, Avalon's Parent Advisory Council (PAC), may be for you!
PAC - Avalon's Parent Advisory Council
The Avalon Parent Advisory Council (PAC) is a group of caring and committed parents, school staff, and community volunteers collaborating and working together on parent-centered goals and activities to benefit Avalon students.
Since Avalon Elementary is a Title 1 funded school, PAC is also a great way for parents and caregivers to share the responsibility for improved student academic achievement, and to build a partnership that will help children achieve the state's high standards.
PAC is also a great way to:
- be connected with other Avalon parents
- support your child's education
- get involved with the school
PAC meets once a month in a hybrid format (the meeting takes place both in person at the school library and virtually on Zoom). Additional time commitments would be to help volunteer with any school & social events that we plan.
If you are interested in joining PAC or have questions, please contact Family Ambassador, Candace Walker at: cwalker9@columbus.k12.oh.us.
See below for more information on PAC's Vision, Mission, and Core Values Statement.

Student Spotlight
In class, students read " The Kissing Hand". This book is all about how Chester the Raccoon is able to overcome his fears upon starting school.
Londyn M. was able to draw a picture and describe how she felt on the first day of school and how Chester the Racoon felt on the first day of school, shown below.
Students have also been working on their "All About Me" writing prompts as a "Get to Know You" activity for the new school year. This was Heavenly A.'s work, shown below.
Below, is a Neyah's work all about what she did over the summer!
Positive Behaviors Interventions & Supports (P.B.I.S.)
Avalon teachers, staff, and members of the PBIS Team seek to support the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral competence of all students with supports and opportunities within Tiers 1, 2, & 3.
If you need support or information about helping your scholar recognize their abilities, strengths, or interests, or teaching self-regulation, self-awareness and empathy - please do not hesitate to contact Ms. Callahan for assistance.
