'North Putnam' Film Screening and Panel Discussion
'NORTH PUTNAM' WITH PANEL DISCUSSION
Sunday, Jul 21, 2024, 12:00 PM
Kan-Kan Cinema and Restaurant, Windsor Street, Indianapolis, IN, USA
Directed by award-winning filmmaker, Joel Fendelman, "North Putnam" depicts a year in the life of a rural Indiana school district and the community it serves. Crafted with empathy, a hyper-real reporting lens, and skillfully lush cinematography, “North Putnam” is a quiet film, meant to create a conversation about public education as a vital component of a thriving democracy, to build bridges across divides, and to provide an extended glimpse into a world and set of concerns that so many share but are often overlooked.
We hope audiences come away feeling inspired by the administrators, teachers, students and community members of North Putnam and energized to develop impactful strategies for their own communities. North Putnam is a special initiative of The Castle, a nonprofit organization that partners with public schools in Putnam County, IN.
There will be a post-film panel discussion with Senator Andrea Hunley, Terry Spradlin (Director of Indiana School Board Association), Chris Lagoni (Director of Indiana Small and Rural Schools Association), Dustin LeMay (Superintendent, North Putnam School Corporation) and Representative Beau Baird. Discussion will be moderated by MJ Slaby, Bureau Chief for Chalkbeat Indiana.
