October 7th, 2022
Windsor Families,
I hope had a wonderful week! The fall weather is here! Please be sure to send your children in the appropriate clothing as the weather is getting chilly, they do go outside for recess daily and sometimes for PE. Today we practiced a fire drill with the Arlington Heights Fire Department. The children once again moved quickly and quietly out of the building, the AHFD was very impressed!
Parent-Teacher Conference links went out yesterday, please be sure to sign up for a time slot.
Just a reminder, there IS school on Monday! We will see all of our wonderful wildcats in school on Monday!

Ruler Info...
We are excited to be sharing the RULER approach to social and emotional learning with our students! Our staff knows and practices the skills of emotional intelligence and is prepared to teach and model these emotional intelligence skills.
We will be infusing RULER into all parts of our school by leading school-wide activities, integrating conversations about emotions into evening events, and offering further opportunities for families to be involved.
In the classroom, teachers will be integrating routines that build emotional awareness, such as creating a class Charter and checking in on the Mood Meter. Teachers will also lead lessons that help students understand emotion concepts such as community building, self-awareness, and conflict resolution. Your child’s teacher will be providing more information about what RULER looks like in their classroom.
We are eager to see your children plotting themselves on the Mood Meter which helps them identify how they are feeling. Students will bring home activities related to the RULER skills and tools to do together. Your involvement is very valuable in reinforcing their learning.
Over the course of the year, I will be providing ongoing communication to you about RULER. We hope that you will join us at our upcoming family event if you are interested in learning more.

Staff Spotlight:
Janine Flauter- 5th Grade
Hello! My name is Janine Flauter and this is my 11th year teaching 5th grade at Windsor Elementary School. I attended the University of Illinois at Chicago and received a Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science. Since a young age I have been dedicated to equity and making a positive impact on our world. While nannying my baby nieces and nephew in Arlington Heights (Now at South and Prospect), I realized I loved being a part of their development and pursued a Master’s degree in Elementary Education. Since then, I’ve received an EL endorsement and am working towards a second Master’s degree in Educational Leadership.
Outside of school, I love spending time with my family, my husband Clint and our two girls Jude (7) and Camille (6). We enjoy walking our dog, 2 year old Rogue, and swimming in our backyard at our home in Bartlett. When I am not driving my girls to and from dance and gymnastics, I enjoy reading, swimming, painting, studying, catching up on my favorite series, and attending music concerts (I love rock ‘n roll)!
I am proud to be a part of the Windsor Wildcat and Fantastic Flauters family!
Alex Leberecht- 5th grade
Hi! My name is Alex Leberecht, and I am currently a fifth grade teacher at Windsor. This is my 7th year of teaching and fourth year teaching 5th grade. Prior to Windsor, I taught fourth grade for three years. I was coaching figure skating when I discovered my passion for teaching, leading me to pursue my degree from Illinois Wesleyan University. I graduated from IWU with a degree in Elementary Education and minors in Mathematics and Hispanic Studies. Since then, I have earned a master’s degree in Curriculum & Instruction with Advanced Specializations from National Louis University. I also have my ESL and Middle School Math endorsements.
Outside of school, I live in the AH community with my husband and our 2 year old pup, Moxie. I enjoy traveling, reading, golfing, spending time with friends and family, cheering on my favorite sports teams (Go Blue!), and catching up on my favorite TV shows in my free time.
Amy Pinski- 5th grade
Hello! My name is Amy Pinski. This is my 28th year of teaching and my 20th year
as a Wildcat! Currently, I teach 5th grade, but over the years, I have taught 3rd-8th
Grade. I also spent two years living and teaching in Tottori, Japan. I received
my B.S. Ed from Illinois State University and my M.Ed from University of Illinois.
Over the years, I have earned National Board Certification twice, completed
my EL endorsement, became a Certified Brainpop Educator, and achieved
National Geographic Educator certification.
My passions are traveling, gardening, cooking, reading, laughing, and crafting. I love geography, history, math, and
science. PBS has always been my favorite channel(s). I feel extremely fortunate to have spent my entire career in District
25! I love our community and the families I have been lucky enough to work with over the years.
