Hoping the new school year is off to a good start and all of the students have re-adjusted to the early wake-ups and school routines.

By now, your child's case manager should have introduced themselves to you, along with their classroom expectations and methods of communication. Additionally, schedules identifying when your child receives special education services should have been shared. If you have any questions regarding schedules or special education services, please contact your child's case manager.

As always, should questions or concerns arise, please don't hesitate to let one of us know. In addition, if any SSD staff member has made a positive impact on you or your student, let us know by submitting a Cause for Applause!

North Tech is initiating a few changes for the upcoming school year.

First, our website is being updated. Use the menu to access our programs page to learn about our program recommendations and requirements. Select “apply to tech” to access our admissions criteria page and our partner-district resources page. These pages should serve as your one-stop shop for the tools you need to assist students and support their application to Tech. There are links to the course guide, student calendar, Tech videos for many of our programs, and much more. Check out our website here!

Also, North Tech is implementing a new admissions process. Please refer to the admissions FAQ on our website for answers to your questions about the new process.

• Apply to Tech - The application window will open on September 3, 2024, for the fall 2025-2026 school year. The priority deadline for Fall 25-26 is December 19th, 2024.

• Preview Night will be on Oct. 23rd, 5-7pm.

• Please access our programs page to review the essential skills for each program we offer. This list can be used as a great resource during IEP meetings when discussing North Tech with interested students and families. To find the essential skills list, click on your program of interest, scroll down to “Credits & Certifications,” click “Core Essential Skills.”

The SSD Parent Advisory Council (PAC) is comprised of families advising and collaborating to improve the education, confidence and social outcomes of each student served by SSD.

The PAC consists of five parents or guardians – one member and four alternates – from each of the 22 St. Louis County school districts and from each of the five SSD special education schools. The parents or guardians of students receiving special education services in that district or school elect SSD PAC member.

• Network and communicate with other parents of children who receive special education services
• Become as informed as possible about special education services
• Improve communication between your local school district and SSD
• Create a positive understanding and awareness of students with disabilities
• Establish a network of advocacy for local, state and national disability issues
