Follow-Up From DCPS Modernization & Security Meeting on June 2
Thank you to everyone who joined in-person or virtually when DCPS met with our community on Monday night. We heard from the facilities team managing our modernization about the state of the construction and what will happen at 660 K St. over the summer. Construction remains on schedule with an expected completion next summer. Demolition is now largely complete and work will begin this summer on the new addition. The DCPS slide presentation will be posted on the J.O. Wilson modernization page this week once it is shared.
We were also joined by leaders from the DCPS operations and security staff for a productive conversation about recent safety concerns on Education Hill. There will be a heightened security presence through the end of the school year, as well as during our Field Day this Friday. DCPS also heard family concerns about traffic safety in and around the swing space, and requests for a more assertive presence from the Safe Passage and Crossing Guard staff.
You can view a recording of the meeting here.
