King Philip Regional High School
Week of August 21st
Week of December 4, 2023
Principal's Message
Greetings KP Community,
King Philip Regional High School welcomed a 5 member team of educators last week as part of our school accreditation process. The Collaborative Conference Visit was conducted under the direction of the Commission on Public Schools of the New England Association of Schools and Colleges, NEASC. The purpose of this Collaborative Conference is to review and determine from an outside professional viewpoint the extent to which the school is aligned with the Standards for Accreditation and identify Priority Areas for Growth and improvement. As part of the Conference, the team met with school constituents, reviewed the school’s Self-Reflection report, visited a number of classes throughout the school, and toured the building with several student leaders. Members of the committee were impressed with the students and faculty at KP, the course offerings and the sense of pride in the community. KP will receive their full report within the next few months. In the meantime, KPRHS presented the School Improvement Plan for 2023-2024 at School Committee recently and also to the visiting committee.

The (One Act) Play That Goes Wrong
Reserved seating tickets for the KP Drama Fall comedy production, The (One Act) Play That Goes Wrong, are now on sale via our Web store link or by using our ticketing QR code:
The (One Act) Play That Goes Wrong is a "play within a play" where the audience attends a production of the mystery play, The Murder at Haversham Manor, performed by the Cornley Polytechnic Drama Society. As the actual title of the play indicates, this production is far from a smooth performance. While we wouldn't want to spill the tea here about the misfortunes of the production, suffice it to say, far more than tea gets spilled during the show.
Performances will be held Friday, Dec. 8th and Saturday, Dec. 9th beginning at 7 PM in the Grady Theater here at the high school. Adult tickets are $10 each, senior citizens and children under 12 are $7 each. On-line sales close 12 hours prior to each performance and in-person cash ticket sales begin one hour prior to each performance. Please note that in the unlikely event of a performance cancellation due to weather, a Sunday, Dec. 10th SNOW DATE ONLY 2 PM matinee performance will replace the cancelled regular performance.
As proceeds from the play are directed to providing KP Master Thespian Scholarships for graduating seniors seeking to pursue studies in theater in college, we encourage everyone to attend a performance and support the efforts of our hardworking student actors and technicians as well as our talented drama staff (Lauren Duffy, Ari Barrett, Ryan DeWolfe). We hope to see many of you at the show!
KPRHS Annual Anything But a Back Pack Day!

The winning class will receive $500 from StuCo to help defray class activity expenses. Last year, both the 9th and 10th graders received $500 out performing the 11th & 12th graders. Class of 2025 Cookie Fundraiser
The Class of 2025 is hosting a fundraiser in which they are selling cookie dough, cake rolls, and other treats, just in time for the holidays. There is also an option for those interested to make a donation to the class without needing to make a purchase. Host Family Needed for KP International Student
KP is seeking a new host family for one of our international exchange students.
The young lady is attending KPHS as a junior and is doing very well in her classes. But due to a change in the host family situation, we need to find a new family for her to stay with, from mid January or early Feb until the end of the school year in June.
Host families need not have school-aged children; empty nesters welcome! Student may share bedroom with same gender +/- five year of age. Usually students come for a whole year, so this is a wonderful opportunity to try the program for a short time period.
Please contact Eileen Cahoon, the local exchange student coordinator for more information. elcportraits@yahoo.com 774-291-9379, The exchange program is an integral part of the US Department of State's official public diplomacy strategy. Your volunteerism is key to the success of this valuable and rewarding program.

The KP Cares Giving Tree is up in the library/media center. This is the 9th year we have run a gift drive to support children ages 18 and under that live in Norfolk, Plainville or Wrentham. This year we received 550 gift requests from 50 families. The tree contains tags that represent individual gift requests from these children. If you are able, please take a tag or tags to help support these families during a difficult time. All gifts are due back by 12/6/2023 to Mrs. Rowe in the library. If you have any questions please reach out to Mrs. Rowe, rowec@Kingphilip.org
Reminder: All Giving Tree gifts are due on December 6.
KP DECA
KP DECA participated in the fifth annual UMASS Lowell Difference Maker event on November 29, 2023. This was a shark tank style competition asking students to prepare a five minute business pitch on a new product or service and answer 5 minutes of questions from UMASS Lowell business school professors. Our team participated in the event for the first time and placed third among all teams (pictures attached). Our team consisted of seniors Luke Anderson, Steve Quartarone, Bridget Swezey, and Ashleigh Guenette. This was a wonderful event to be a part of and look forward to future competitions.
