Madonna Catholic School News
January 24, 2025
Dear Madonna Catholic School Community,
Thank you for your incredible support and dedication to our Madonna School Community!
Whether you attended our Information Night, encouraged your child to serve as a school ambassador, helped with a field trip or school initiative like hot lunch, changed your usual parking spot so as to keep our children safe as they arrive at school or contributed to planning our upcoming Family Dance in February — your involvement truly makes a difference.
We are blessed to have such a wonderful, engaged parent group, and we are grateful for your continued partnership in sharing the good news of our school with others. Thank you for helping us create a vibrant, welcoming, and faith-filled community.
Heavenly Father,
We thank You for the gift of our parents,
For their love, sacrifices, and unwavering support.
Bless them for guiding us in faith and education,
And for trusting in the mission of Catholic schools.
May their generosity and encouragement be richly rewarded,
And their hearts filled with peace and joy.
Grant them strength and grace in all they do.
In Jesus' name, we pray. Amen.
Mrs. Cathy Hinger, Principal
Mrs. Fiona Wimmer, Assistant Principal

EICS 2025-2026 Sherwood Park School Calendar "Approved in Principle"
This week, our Trustees "Approved in Principle" the EICS calendar for the 2025-2026 school year. One key change you'll notice is that every Wednesday will now be early dismissal days to allow time for ongoing Professional Development for our staff. If you have any feedback about the calendar, please join us at the next School Council meeting on February 12th at 7:00 PM. We will collect feedback at this time to share with the Board.

Grade 4 Science - Egg Drop
Grade 4W Science class along with their teacher, Mrs. Njogu participated in a egg drop last Friday with the ECS Fortier class as the supportive audience. Thank you to these young students for allowing the 4W class to use the kindergarten reading tower for this experiment. Shout out to the parents who helped their kids boil eggs!! There were many creative protective shields developed by the older students. Go Science!
2M Outdoor Learning Fun
Mrs. MacLean's grade 2 class spent the afternoon learning and creating outside. They made a number of snow sculptures, created beautiful art designs in the snow and even made some feeders for the birds...a maybe our resident squirrel! Hope they enjoyed their hot chocolate when they came indoors!

COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT
Grandpa Walt shared some treasures of "old" items he wanted to show his grade four buddies. Here he is showing them his first cellphone. He also brought some obsidian stone which he thought might have been a tool which he found in the field not far from his home.
Bring a friend and come to our dance!
