As I write this, I find it hard to believe that the school year is coming to an end. As we approach the end of the school year, I want to thank you personally. I continue to appreciate the continued support of our parents and our local community. I hope this school year has been good for both you and your children. I know our staff at Mentone has enjoyed a terrific year and is grateful for the opportunity to work with their children. Please have a safe and enjoyable summer with your family.

Parents, below is the schedule of this year's celebrations:

Monday, May 20- Kindergarten Graduation at 1:30 p.m. in the Mentone Gymnasium

Monday, May 20- Fifth Grade Graduation 6:30 p.m. at the Mentone Gymnasium

Tuesday, May 21 – Awards Ceremony at Mentone Gymnasium at 1:30 p.m. for students in grades 1st through 4th

Parents of fifth-graders, the commencement ceremony will begin on the evening of Monday, May 20 and begin at 6:30 p.m. Upon entry, each parent will be given a location of where their child's individual class will meet. At the beginning of the evening, individual teachers will spend time with parents and students in their class in three separate locations. These classroom awards will begin at 6:30 p.m. After these classroom awards conclude, we will begin the actual graduation ceremony in the gym around 7:00 p.m. I hope tonight is conducive to your family schedules. Our goal is to honor our fifth graders and wish them well as they transition to middle school.

Tuesday, May 7- Fifth Grade Orientation at TVMS 7:45 a.m.

Wednesday, May 16- Fourth Grade Prill School Field Trip

Friday, May 17- Bulldog Bash at 8:45 a.m.

Wednesday, May 22- FIELD DAY (Rainy Date: May 23)

Friday, May 24- Last Day of School

Wednesday, May 30- First Day of Reading Training for select 2nd and 3rd grade students

Parents, this week is Teacher Appreciation Week. I feel fortunate to walk through Mentone and personally witness the high-quality instruction and personal care our teachers provide to their children on a daily basis. I know that a simple note of encouragement means a lot to teachers. If you feel guided, feel free to reach out and encourage your child's teacher this week.

Disability Awareness Week, May 6-10

This has been a remarkable and very meaningful year for the Student Council as they planned activities for the students at Mentone Elementary School. Some of our favorite activities have been the food drive, miracle tree, Dudes vs Donuts, and coin wars for Riley. Thank you to Mrs. Yoars and Mrs. Biddle for their hard work in making sure our Student Council had a special year.

Note: Darlings and Donuts: Just a reminder to make sure you're signed up for this event at the end of the day on Friday, May 10th. Our student council is looking forward to this event for the special ladies in the lives of the students who attend Mentone Elementary School. The cost of this event is $3.00 per family. We hope to see you then!

The last day books can be checked out of the school library will be Thursday, May 9. All school library books must be returned by the end of the day on Friday, May 17.

If you have or know any family in the area that has a child who will turn five by October 1, they are eligible for kindergarten for the 2024-2025 school year. If you have not enrolled your son or daughter in kindergarten, please contact our school office.
