It is hard to believe that fall parent/teacher conferences are just around the corner. This year conferences will be held October 18th and 19th. Teachers are currently in the process of scheduling conference times with families.

Hello Oak Grove families. My name is Guadalupe. I am part of the custodial staff here at Oak Grove. I started in May and really enjoy working here. While I’m not at work, I enjoy cooking, gardening and helping my community. I am really happy to work with such amazing staff and really love being a part of the Oak Grove family.

Oak Grove has been partnering with Children’s Mercy and Sporting KC to launch the Red Card initiative. In accordance with October being anti-bullying awareness month, Red Card encourages kids and adults to “Call it when you see it.” Over the next few weeks, students are participating in a friendship initiative where they have the chance to earn prizes from demonstrating acts of friendship around the building. Students are recognized every Friday during morning announcements and receive small prizes for their efforts. Promoted behaviors include giving compliments, sharing with others, helping friends, smiling at others, inviting others to join, and using kind words. Thank you, parents and caregivers, for your continued support and for promoting kindness in your homes. The staff at Oak Grove Elementary is so proud to share this project with you!
