Norton Middle School Weekly Notes

Questions about grades for Related Arts: Our Related Arts classes will not be issuing grades with the exception of 8th grade health, band and choir. Mr. Kaufman, Mr. Chiera and Mrs. Casper if you have concerns please let me know.

Report Card buckets are going to open May 20. We would like all grades entered by Friday, May 22 at noon. This will give us an opportunity to run report cards and distribute them during locker clean out, May 26-29.

If you would like to send Congratulations to the Class of 2020, you can send an email to:

list_classof2020@nortonpanthers.org. Angie has included all MS staff on this email list, which means we will receive all emails sent to this group. You may have noticed some emails arriving to your mailboxes this weekend from Mr. Shanor and Mrs. Williams, due to your email address being added to the group. We will have access until May 22.

Mr. Dobbins and I will be copying the last round of packets Monday, May 4 in the afternoon. Please make sure work is in the appropriate grade-level bin for copying. Assignments should be posted to Google Classroom by Monday afternoon with packets available Tuesday morning.

In addition, Mr. Dobbins and I will be setting up two classrooms one 8th grade classroom and one 5th grade classroom incorporating the requirement of social distancing. Pictures to follow.

I have been asked if teachers can get into their rooms now to begin securing it for the summer months. The answer is yes, with a few guidelines:

• When working in your room, please keep your doors closed.
• Please make sure you have a mask available should you cross paths with others.
• Please make sure you have hand sanitizer available to use throughout your time.
• Also, we are requesting that this be teacher time only. In the past we have allowed your kids, but at this time, and for safety reasons, we are asking you work alone.
• If you are going to be in the building, please text and let us know. If we have too many wanting to work on the same day, we may ask you to adjust your schedule.

Karen will have check-out materials ready within the next ten days.

I had a variety of staff members read through the applications for the Aurand Scholarship Award and this year's receipts will be Gavin Hillyard and Tim Jervis. The winners will be announced in the upcoming weeks. I will be sending out the two winning applications in the next couple of days. This year the scholarships is being sponsored by National Junior Honor Society and Student Council.
