Cedar Hill High School 2024-25
July 24th, 2024
From the Desk of Principal Joffre
Dear Longhorn Family,
We’ve reached the 10th week of school, and I couldn’t be prouder of the progress our students have made so far. With each passing week, we continue to build on the strong foundation of success and community that makes Cedar Hill High School so special. This week is a big one for many of our students as we kick off PSAT testing. Our 9th, 10th, and 11th graders will be taking the PSAT 9, PSAT 10, and the PSAT/NMSQT, respectively. I know that test days can be stressful, but I want to remind everyone to take a deep breath and give it your best effort. These assessments provide valuable insights into your academic strengths and areas for growth. Remember, this is a stepping stone on your journey to college readiness and beyond.
Next week, CHISD will be celebrating Red Ribbon Week, an important initiative that promotes a drug-free lifestyle. Let’s all join together to make healthy choices and stand up for the future we deserve. See the Red Ribbon Week flyer in the Save the Date section of our newsletter for activities and dress-up days that will make this a fun and meaningful experience for everyone.
Lastly, I want to also highlight a fantastic event happening at CHHS next week - our theatre department’s fall production of Something Rotten! The dedication and talent of our student performers and crew are truly inspiring, and I encourage everyone to come out and support them. The arts play such a vital role in our school community, and I’m sure this will be a show to remember!
Let’s keep up the momentum as we move through this week. Remember, whether it’s testing, making healthy choices, or shining on stage, you are all capable of achieving great things. Keep pushing forward and stay focused. It's a Great Day to be a Longhorn!
Sincerely,
Principal Joffre

October Is Substance Use Prevention Month!!
October is Substance Use Prevention Month — and we’re Telling the Prevention Story. Join us, as partners in prevention!
- To inspire action, each of us can share how prevention is improving lives in our communities.
- We aim to prevent substance use in the first place, prevent the progression of use, and reduce harms. And we have the prevention playbook to do so.
- Prevention science (with decades of research and community-based experience) shows that prevention works.
- Prevention strengthens protective factors and reduces risk factors ― in individuals, families, schools, communities, and society.
- Prevention helps us get ahead of substance use and mental health challenges — so that youth, families, and communities can thrive.
- Prevention Month lifts up the national conversation — to showcase prevention’s positive effects on communities across the country.
