Board Member Dion Manley Named to Governor's Children's Vision Strike Force
GJPS Board of Education member Dion Manley was recently named to the Children's Vision Strike Force by Governor Mike DeWine.
The strike force was formed after DeWine talked about the work of Sight for All United in providing prescription glasses to students. This strike force will work to scale those models statewide and provide schools with the technical assistance they need to implement similar programs. Check out a press release from the Governor's office to learn more!
Stay Safe This Summer
Secure Firearm Storage Continues to be Important over Summer
Unintentional shootings are far more likely in summer months when kids and teens are home from school, visiting friends and relatives, or both. As summer approaches, it’s more important than ever to remember to secure all firearms in your homes and vehicles, and to ask about the presence of unsecured guns in homes or vehicles where your kids will be.
Please strengthen these practices by teaching your kids age appropriate gun safety behaviors - never to touch a gun and to alert an adult immediately if one is found, and discuss how to get out of an unsafe situation. Please see the below resource for more information about this safety conversation, and share with friends, and visit BeSMARTForKids.org for more information on safe storage practices. Thanks for keeping our community safe!
