Thank you to our Pledgers who get our day started by helping with Morning Announcements. Students may sign up to be a pledger and we have different students each week.
Flag Duty
Thanks to our afternoon flag duty students, Xander and Oliver! We also have several students who help us to raise the flag in the morning, thank you to them as well!
Pizza & Kindness
Congratulations to Jess! She received a $100 from Liars Paradise to Barnes & Noble. We put all the winners this year into a random name picker and Jess was the winner! A special thank you to Linda and Wynn Varney for their generosity in sponsoring this effort to spread Kindness at Nottingham School! Happy Summer Reading Jess!
Staff Spotlight! -
Thank you for reading all about our staff who were spotlighted this year in this feature of the Knightly News. It was really fun getting to know people a bit better. We end the year with the "Heather" edition! Enjoy.
Highest Honors Breakfast
On Tuesday, June 10th we celebrated over 50 students who achieved High Honors! This is a tremendous accomplishment and I offer my sincere congratulations to all of our recipients! Parents and Guardians were invited in for an award ceremony and light refreshments in the cafeteria.
Field Day
Congratulations to 4 Ward for being awarded the Shield of Nobility by demonstrating the best sportsmanship and most spirit on Field Day! The cool weather was perfect and we all had fun!
Grade 6
Grade 6 had a "blast" building stomp rockets this week and "launched" them on the back field. They also made altitude trackers to estimate the distance for each rocket travelled.
Grade 6
Chinese lanterns watercolor paintings to finish off our ancient China unit.
Grade 5
Grade 5 hosted Grade 4 for their annual Industrial Revolution Inventions Museum! Thank you Grade 4 for being great visitors!
Preschool
Preschool students enjoyed a wonderful last week of school filled with games, songs, a mini field day and a special graduation ceremony for the PM class. It has been an exciting year full of smiles, laughter, playing, making new friends and learning many new skills. Our PM class is more than ready to enter the doors of Nottingham School as Kindergarteners in the fall! Congrats to all!
3rd Grade
On Monday, June 9, county forester Greg Jordan visited third grade to talk about tree life cycle and answer questions about the trees in our school yard. A highlight was seeing all the little parts of an acorn and baby oak tree!
After a year of hard work in math and playing math game shows, this student won a golden trophy for being the game show MVP! Congratulations!
2nd Grade Field Trip
Here are some photos from the 2nd grade field trip to Odiorne Point State Park and the Seacoast Science Center. Looks like fun!
Grade 7 Science
Grade 7 completed frog dissection and had the opportunity to observe external adaptions and then examine internal anatomy and body systems.
Grade 7
Grade 7 enjoyed the Rocky Shore program at the Seacoast Science Center. They collected data on invasive green crabs; size, shell hardness, gender and whether or not the female had eggs on them. In addition to collecting data that will be added to a Citizen Science project, the students also looked for other organisms that live in tidepools. They found tunicates, polychaetes (clam worms), a lobster, hermit crabs, sea urchins, Asian shore crabs, mussels, barnacles and periwinkles. Afterwards, students had fun exploring the new aquarium exhibits, including a blue lobster- a one in a million genetic variation, and other local species like lumpfish and skates. The Seacoast Science Center offers guided kayak trips for families, as well as a variety of summer programs, so if you have not visited Odiorne yet, put it on your summer to-do list!
Art Class
Here are some of the latest projects from Art!
Grade 5
5th Graders celebrated their graduation from participation in the Nottingham D.A.R.E. program sponsored by the Nottingham PD! Thank you Corporal Chris Alvarez for another great year!
8th Grade Science
8th graders try out the Myth Busters Tanker Crush lab on a smaller scale. When water vapor molecules push the air molecules out of a can that is cooled suddenly, the inside air pressure is less than the surrounding air / water pressure, resulting in the can imploding!
Graduation
We celebrated our Class of 2025 last night at a well attended graduation ceremony. We also celebrated out 8th graders with a whole school assembly during the day. Thank you to families, students, staff, our School Board and SAU for making last night possible. A big thank you to our 7th grade parents who also set up a lovely reception in the cafeteria after our ceremony. Congratulations and good luck to our 8th grade class!!
Retirees
The School Board celebrated our retirees on June 18th. Congratulations and well wishes to Dr. HasBrouck, Mrs. Jeannotte, Mrs. Pollard and Mrs. Stevens! Thank you for your years of service to Nottingham School, our students and community. You will be missed!
Time Capsule Opening
We had a fun ceremony on June 18th to open the Year 2000 Time Capsule. The Union Leader was in attendance and ran a story on the front page of the 6/20 edition. I would link to it, but there is a paywall. Either way, we had a blast and look forward to putting our Time Capsule together next year to be opened in the Year 2050!! Thank you to all who made this fun event possible!
Thank you note
As we wrap up the school year, I’d like to share a thoughtful thank you letter we received from Peter Driscoll, Principal of Dover High School. Thank you, Mr. Driscoll, for your kind words and for the role you and your team play in supporting our Nottingham students throughout their high school journey.
Working in education is incredibly rewarding, but it’s not without its challenges. The days can be long and the work demanding. Yet, when former students return and share how far they’ve come, we’re reminded why we chose this path—to make a positive impact on future generations and leave the world a little better than we found it. There is truly no greater reward.
To all of our students, past and present: I wish you a summer full of laughter, rest, and memorable moments with family and friends. As I always say—have fun, and make sure you learn something along the way. We’ll see you in August.
