Two Millard Schools to Become STEM Schools
Field Dedication This Thursday Evening
Join us in celebrating the Sutfin Track & Field dedication during halftime of the Millard South vs. Millard West football game this Thursday, Sept. 5th! Dr. Jim Sutfin served in education for 33 years and was Millard's superintendent from 2014 to 2022. After his retirement, the Board voted to name the track and field in his honor. His name was added this summer during the routine replacement of the turf.
Be Present, Be Powerful
It starts early. Children who miss too much school in preschool and kindergarten are less likely to be reading at grade level in third grade. Attendance keeps adding up all the way through school. A student who is chronically absent in high school is 7.4 times more likely to drop out. September is attendance awareness month. Millard joins school districts across the metro to spread the word about the importance of being in school. Help students get to school regularly and on time so they can be present and be powerful!
Congratulations to Millard Staff Doing Amazing Things!
Upchurch Elementary teacher Jenn Gibbs has been awarded a KETV NewsWatch 7 and Thrasher Foundation Repair Cash for Schools grant. Mrs. Gibbs plans to put the $2,500 gift towards reading programs at the school.
