Dress Code
This past week, YOUR Mav students were reminded of the RRISD Dress Code in their Flex Period. Click HERE for the presentation that was shown in ALL McNeil Flex Classes this week. This is a similar presentation to the one shared with ALL Mavericks during the first few weeks of school. You may access those presentations by clicking on this link: 2024-2025 McNeil High School FLEX Student Presentation Calendar
*Note: All quoted sections in the Dress Code Presentation are taken directly from the RRISD Dress Code as stated on pages 67-68 of the 2024-25 Student/Parent Handbook. Other information is adapted from the same document.
Please remind students there are different dress codes for different situations. Clothes that are appropriate in one setting may not be appropriate in others. School has a particular dress code. Workplaces may have a different dress code. Proms, weddings, and graduations have a different dress code/style.
The purpose of this presentation is to inform students, parents, and staff of the school and district expectations for dress code. We appreciate the support of families and students meeting these expectations.
Please see the below message from Dr. Eagleton:
Mav Nation,
We are off to a MAVtastic school year! So many aMAVzing things have occurred this year thus far and we are excited about each one! At McNeil HS, we are committed to the pursuit of excellence and continuous improvement as we endeavor to provide exceptional learning opportunities and outcomes for our Mavericks. As such, I am writing you today to solicit your assistance. According to the Round Rock ISD 2024-2025 Student Handbook, Round Rock ISD has a "student dress code that supports equitable educational access, prevents disruption, minimizes safety hazards, and maintains a positive learning climate." The student dress code expectations were presented to students during FLEX on August 23, 2024; the presentation was also shared with all of Mav Nation, via Mav Mail, on August 25, 2024. Since then, we have employed an extensive period of grace to allow Mavericks to align themselves with the dress code expectations. In addition, we've made announcements and presented, again, the MHS Dress Code Expectations.
While the great majority of our Mavericks have aligned themselves with the dress code expectations, there are some who have not. Currently, we are seeing a consistent rise in the following dress code offenses: exposed chests; exposed midriffs; and exposed buttocks. The observed offenses are not specific to any particular group of Mavericks, but are pervasive. Likewise, the expectations for dress code alignment are not specific to any particular group of Mavericks, but are pervasive. WE are ALL World Class Mavs who are safe, respectful, and responsible.
Beginning Monday, November 11, 2024, all Mavericks who are misaligned with the dress code expectations, particularly in the 3 areas previously listed, will be granted the opportunity to take the necessary action(s) to immediately achieve dress code alignment. All Mavericks who cannot or will not make the immediate adjustments to achieve dress code alignment subject themselves to disciplinary action according to the Round Rock ISD 2024-2025 Student Handbook and Code of Conduct.
It is our desire and goal for all Mavericks to continue to thrive in a MAVtacular environment that manifests safety, respect, and responsibility. Please continue partnering with us by ensuring your Maverick arrives at McNeil HS in dress code alignment. Thanks!
Respectfully, Dr. Mack O. Eagleton, IV Principal

McNeil Band Success AGAIN!
Last weekend, the McNeil Band competed in their final competition of the season at the ultra-competitive Bands of America San Antonio Super Regional. This is easily the toughest contest in America every year, with 70 of the best bands from Texas competing.
The Mav Band had a monumental prelims performance on Friday, blowing away an audience of thousands and the judges! In what seems like a fad this year, our students made history by advancing to Finals!!! I cannot express enough how big of a deal this is, and they KILLED IT in Finals! We tied for 14th in prelims and Finals, narrowly losing the final tiebreaker.
The importance of this accomplishment cannot be overstated, and it has solidified our band program on the national scene. Our students finished ahead of SEVERAL national programs who had their eyes on a Finals performance. People from all over the country are reaching out to us congratulating the band, and even wanting to design for us in the future. The greatest minds in our industry are thoroughly impressed with our band.
This has been a season for the ages, and we are excited to see where this takes us in the future. Here is a recap of their competitive success:

Starting November 4th, our school will be hosting donation buckets for Brown Santa, a non-profit organization founded by the Travis County Sheriff's Office that brings holiday cheer to families in need. Every year, Brown Santa collects donations of toys and other essentials and distributes them to children and families who may not have the means to celebrate Christmas.
This season, let’s come together as a school community to make a difference! Here’s how you can help:
What to Donate: New children’s toys, children books, stuffed animals, blankets, craft supplies, clothing, and other holiday essentials.
Where to Donate: Find the Brown Santa donation buckets placed in the front office, suite 5, and Mr. Norwood's room.
Other Ways to Help: Scan the QR code on the image to make a direct donation or browse Brown Santa's Amazon storefront to purchase items they need.
By giving a little, we can bring joy to families and make someone’s Christmas truly special. Let’s make this holiday season a brighter one for everyone—one donation at a time!
