Park Hall's Weekly Newsletter
September 2, 2024
Happy Labor Day weekend!
One of the most challenging adjustments for students starting school is riding on a bus. This is a new experience for many of our children as there are no booster seats, seat belts or technology. Students are surrounded by friends and often will test limits. Please help us keep everyone safe and have a successful ride to school by talking to your children about staying seated, keeping hands and feet to themselves, and using kind words. Your support is appreciated!
Park Hall Spirit Wear is on sale now through September 15. See the order form below.
For information on having your child join chorus, band, or strings, see below.
Please note that SMCPS has a new regulations regarding students and cell phones. All cell phones must be turned off and put away, out of sight. Any students using their cell phones at school, will have their cell phones confiscated and returned at the end of the day for the first offense. A second offense will require the family to come pick up the cell phone from the office. If your child has a cell phone, please talk to them about these new regulations.
Thank you Park Hall Families!

Chorus, Band and Strings Information
Hi Park Hall Families!
We are happy to have the opportunity to offer Strings instruction to students in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade as well as Band, Strings, and Choral music instruction to students in 4th and 5th grade. 4th and 5th grade students may participate in either Band or Strings, but not both. However, Band or Strings students can also participate in the elementary school Chorus program. Instruction will begin during the third week of September for band and chorus. Instruction for Strings will begin during the fourth week of September. The enrollment form is due by Monday, September 9th. There are online and paper forms for both Band and Strings, and students can pick up a paper form for Chorus. Students who are interested in joining Strings may choose the violin, viola, or cello as their instrument for the year. Students who are new to Band may choose flute, clarinet, trumpet, or percussion (bells and snare drum), and returning students may continue with their instrument from last year or choose another, including trombone, French Horn, or Saxophone. All 4th and 5th grade students who enjoy singing are welcome to join the chorus. Students in chorus will work as a group to develop their singing voices.
We hope that you will take time to seriously consider this matter. We believe that the musical experiences have the potential to be one of your child's most cherished learning experiences. If you have any questions, please contact us. Online or paper forms are due Monday, September 9th! Thank you for considering!

Community School Information
Park Hall Elementary has also been identified as a community school. A community school is a public school that establishes strategic partnerships between the school and other community resources. These partnerships promote student achievement, positive learning, and seek to promote the well-being of students, families, and the community by providing services. Community schools address the whole child, with a comprehensive focus on academics, social and emotional well-being, and developmental needs.
This year we will be conducting a needs assessment, to identify what our students, families, and community needs. If you would like more information on how to get involved, or would like to receive services please contact:
