Spring is almost upon us! Though this winter has been mild, we’re definitely excited about more daylight and the warmer days ahead.
Spring is traditionally known as a time of growth. In that spirit, we want to explore ways in which we can grow to better meet your professional development needs. We’d like to invite you to participate in our Readership Survey – just four short questions designed to help us better serve you, our partners in education.
Please take a few minutes to respond by clicking the link below. The survey will close April 6, 2023.
Sincerely,
Your CIPD Team

Tami joined BOCES 2 as an Instructional Support Specialist with a focus on Special Education and Behavior in January 2023. In the summer of 2022 Tami worked as a regional summer school principal for BOCES 2. Before joining BOCES, she supported the Greater Southern Tier BOCES as an Instructional Support Specialist for the past three years.
She received her first two masters from St. John Fisher college in Special Education and Administration Leadership. When working as a building administrator at Hillside she fell in love with behavior and in the Fall of 2022, she finished her third master’s in Applied Behavior Analysis and Autism.
Tami resides in Irondequoit with her husband and five children. Tami and her husband are advocates in the community for Autism awareness due to two of their sons' diagnosis. For fun Tami runs races to bring awareness to Autism and coaches for an inclusive lacrosse program. Tami is also a Bills fan and loves to play and watch all sports.
The Regional School Counselor PD: How Can We Use Executive Functioning Skills to Close the Covid Gap?
Join us at BOCES 2 Professional Development Center on Wednesday, March 29, 2023. For either the AM Sesson (8:15am-11:15am) or the PM Session (12:00pm-3:00pm).
Covid definitely left students with a gap in their education. Although teachers are feeling the pressure to make up those academic gaps, they are also noticing the social, emotional, and organizational gaps in their students - gaps that are further widened by the trauma of the past few years. This session will focus on practical strategies that can be used by teachers, or by counselors in support of teachers, exploring executive function skills that help students traverse those gaps through back-to-basics instruction. The backdrop of trauma-informed classrooms will be the foundation as participants review practices that result in greater self-management, preparing the whole child for success.

Sorting Through the Science(s) of Reading
Join us virtually via Zoom on Monday, March 27, 2023.
It's hard to make it through the day without hearing about ‘The Science of Reading.' It's important to stay current with research on best practices in literacy instruction, but in a time when we are flooded with so much information (and misinformation), it can be a challenge to distill this information down to the essentials. During this session we will consider what the research says (and doesn't say) about best practices in reading instruction to inform our decision-making at the district level. This session is designed for K-5 literacy leaders and administrators.
