Weekly Newsletter: October 22nd, 2021
Greetings Orcas,
A quick reminder that we have a short week next week. There is no school next Friday, October 29th so please plan accordingly, be safe, and enjoy the long weekend.
Next week, though short, is already drumming up excitement among our students as we approach Thursday evening’s UNICEF Trunk or Treat fundraiser taking place at our Technology campus parking lot for our entire school, grades K-12. Look below for more details. We can’t wait to see you there!
If you haven’t already, please be sure to submit your response to the survey sent out Wednesday afternoon regarding “Device Availability, Learning Opportunities, and Newsletter Feedback.” You can access via this link as well: https://forms.office.com/r/5SsV5GrrjF
I hope you all have a nice weekend and look forward to updating you on our students’ continued success next week.

A MESSAGE FROM MS. PEREZ
Hello and welcome back to Counseling Corner!
This week I have news of a personal matter to share with you all.
I’m getting married next week!! And following our wedding, my Husband and I will be moving to South Florida, which means that with both excitement and sadness in my heart, I will be leaving Orlando Science Middle/High School next week.
When I started working here in 2018, I had no idea how special this place would become to me. In some ways, it’s become another family. The OSS community has been a wonderful one to work in and I cannot express how grateful I am to have been here for your students, your families, and our staff these past 3 years.
So you all are aware, my last day at OSS will be on October 28th and you can catch me at the PLUS Alliance Club’s annual Halloween Social in the High School parking lot that night *Hint Hint, it will be a blast, get your tickets now!* In my last week, I will be cherishing every moment and doing my best to provide as much support while I’m still here. In the interim time between my exit and the next counselor’s arrival, if you should need assistance with mental health referrals, coordinating services, and/or resources, please contact the front desk and they will make sure that qualified personnel contacts you directly to address your request. Additionally, here are some resources for you to save and refer to in case of an emergency.
I’ve supplied a few extra newsletters for staff so you will still hear from me for a little while on this platform until a new Counselor comes. Additionally, I got this idea from some teacher friends because they do this for former students once they graduate, but if you have any news and cool updates you’d like to tell me about your students after I’ve left, I’d love to hear how they’re doing! You can email me at CoolNewsMs.Perez@gmail.com. Please do not to use this email for mental health inquiries, requests for services, or emergencies as I will no longer be the Counselor for OSS and I will not be checking this email the way I would a work email. The staff is equipped to handle whatever mental health needs you may have. But you can use the email for any life updates, college acceptances, great personal progress, funny stories etc. that you’d like to share with me.
On a final and most important note; your students are incredible, special in a million different ways and I will miss them dearly. It’s been an honor being their Counselor.
Wishing you all the best moving forward,
Ms. Felicia C. Perez
School Mental Health Counselor for OSS (2018-2021)
