An Update from the Superintendent's Office - February 2025

As we move into February, I’m reminded of the incredible progress we’ve made together so far this school year. This month, we’ll continue to focus on creating a supportive and inclusive environment where every student has the opportunity to thrive. Whether it’s celebrating Black History Month, engaging in winter activities, or preparing for upcoming spring events, I’m excited for all the ways we’ll grow as a community. Thank you for your continued dedication to making this a positive and enriching year for our students.

Digital Parenting

Parenting in this digital world is extremely challenging at times, not to mention quite scary. If you would like to know what kids are doing online these days and get some tips for keeping them safe, we'd encourage you to watch the video linked below. School Lunch Balances

We are implementing a notification system for school lunch balances. You will soon begin receiving a text indicating low lunch balances. We are hoping that this improves communication in this area as we know kids don't always communicate their low lunch balances or give you the paper notifications we currently send.

After School Program

We are considering changes to our after school program as we have struggled to staff this program. We are also looking into funding sources and are considering a fee for students to attend. We will communicate any changes as decisions are made.

Parent-Teacher Conferences

Parent-Teacher Conferences will be on February 10 and 13. Elementary conferences will be from 4-7 p.m. and Jr.-Sr. High conferences will be from 5:30-8:30 p.m.

Inclement Weather

Winter is here and with that we likely will see some inclement weather, but hopefully not a lot. All weather delays and closures will be announced via our OneCall system, local news stations (KTIC, The Bull, KETV, etc.), and our school social media pages. If you are not on the OneCall system and you would like to be, please contact the school office. Community members are welcome to receive calls as well! You do not have to be a parent to receive our OneCalls. If you want to stay up to date with what is happening at the school, we are happy to add you to our list!

Career Opportunities

OC is sad to announce that our beloved Ms. Robin has decided this will be her final year at Oakland-Craig Elementary. As a result, we are looking for someone to serve as the Elementary Secretary beginning in the fall. We would also consider training full time in late spring, early summer. The Board of Education has approved the calendar for the 2025-2026 school year. If you are the ultimate planner you are welcome to make note of this for next year.
