Painting with Gus!
Art in action!
Can you believe it's our final week of school! We wish one and all a bountiful fishing season, abundant outdoor fun, and plentiful reading time with family and pals! Enjoy the summer, and one another in love and joy! Our first day of school for the 2024- 25 school year is on August 21, 2024:-)
Thank you to Bunnell Street Arts Center of Homer for sponsoring our Artist in Residence visit of Graham 'Gus' Dane last week to our site. We were blessed to have such a dynamic, spirited, and enthused Mr. Gus teaching our students painting with proper brush technique and color strategy. Our kiddos got to do their self portaits, cell art from mitosis/ meiosis, and collaborative painting, too! What a joy, and we can't wait for you all to check out the exhibit at Promotions/ Awards on May 16 at 2:00 pm. So many thanks for this program is made available through Bunnell Street Arts Center with support from the Alaska Legislature which funds Alaska State Council on the Arts, thus providing matching support from Rasmuson Foundation, National Endowment for the Arts, Ulmerβs Drug and Hardware, Kenai Fine Arts Center, and the Kenai Peninsula Borough School District.
The Kenai Peninsula Borough School District (KPBSD) is interested in gathering insights to understand how well the district prepared alumni to meet goals for college and/or a career following graduation.
KPBSD has partnered with Hanover Research to conduct a brief Alumni Survey to gather valuable input. The KPBSD encourages alumni to share their experiences and opinions about the KPBSD to help us ensure that our academic and career-focused programs provide the best possible preparation for future graduates.
The survey should take approximately 15 minutes to complete and will close at the end of day on Friday, May 10th, 2024. Please submit responses prior to that date.
We appreciate your participation! Please click the link to begin the survey: KPBSDβs Alumni Survey.
In our ongoing commitment to prioritize the health and well-being of our students and staff, we want to inform you about our KPBSD Symptom-Free Protocol. This protocol is designed to create a safer environment for everyone by minimizing the risk of the spread of illnesses. We kindly request that you ensure your child is symptom-free before sending them to school each day. This includes checking for common symptoms such as fever, cough, sore throat, and difficulty breathing. If your child exhibits any of these symptoms or has been in close contact with someone who has tested positive for an infectious illness, we strongly encourage you to keep them at home, and consult with the clinic. We appreciate your understanding and cooperation in this matter, as the collective efforts of our school community are crucial in maintaining a safe and supportive learning environment for all.
The Safe School Helpline is provided to allow students, parents and community members the ability to confidentially submit report threats of violence, suicide, bullying or illegal activity that impact KPBSD schools, students, or staff. This service provides users the opportunity to leave a message or speak with a live crisis counselor for immediate needs. The helpline is administered by an independent, outside company. All communications remain private, confidential, and anonymous.
