Attendance Matters: Every Student, Every Day!
Did you know...? Why Daily Attendance Matters:
Missed Lessons = Falling Behind: Even one day can mean missing critical instructions and activities, making it harder for your child to catch up.
Impact on Future Success: Consistent attendance is a strong predictor of academic achievement and future opportunities.
Building Resilience: Regular attendance teaches your child the value of perseverance and responsibility—essential skills for success in life.
Stronger Friendships: Daily presence helps your child develop and sustain friendships, which are crucial for emotional and social development.
Healthy Routine: Attending school every day establishes a stable routine, promoting better mental and physical health.
If you child does not want to come to school, we are here to help facilitate the transition as a team. Please reach out to Mr. Scarpitto, our school adjustment counselor: gscarpitto@dracutps.org
Meet Our New Staff
Special Education, Mrs. Flint
I have been teaching special education for seven years, with experience in sub-separate, inclusive, and co-teaching models. My passion is teaching reading and science. When I'm not teaching, you can find me cheering on the Boston Bruins or spending time at the lake with my husband and daughter. I am excited to join the Brookside Elementary School community!
Nurse
Meet Mrs. Weiss, our new school nurse. Here is a message from Mrs. Weiss to our community:
I have been a nurse for almost a decade with a few specialties which include emergency room, pediatrics, and ob/gyn. I have a fifteen month old and I love the amazing journey of being a mom! I enjoy going on outdoor adventures with my family while making memories along the way. I am an animal lover and have adopted two dogs that I love so much! I am really excited to pivot my nursing career and strive to be the best school nurse that I can be! I look forward to getting to know all the students and their families during this school year. See you soon!
Welcome to Brookside!
4th Grade teacher replacing Mrs. LeSage
- Meet Miss Keefe, our new Grade 4 teacher! She recently graduated with her Masters in Elementary Education from UMASS Amherst. She completed her student teaching in grade 4 as well. Her favorite subject is science and she loves Taylor Swift! Welcome Miss Keefe as our newest Brookside Bear!
Important Events
September 26, 2024 Mark your calendar
The objective of Curriculum Night is to share with parents what your child will be learning and the grade level expectations. This is not a time to discuss concerns about your child or to visit a previous teacher. If you have concerns, please email your child's teacher and set up a time to discuss your concerns. There will be two sessions. 5:00-5:45 and 6:00- 6:45. The presentations will be 45 minutes. The sessions are not a drop in event. This will allow for parents with multiple children to attend both sessions.
