3rd Quarter
The 3rd nine weeks are here!
We are excited to kick off the 3rd quarter and embrace the winter season! This new quarter will be filled with exciting opportunities, including a field trip, the winter growth assessment, and plenty of fun and engaging activities to support our learning. Looking back on the last nine weeks, we’ve had a wonderful time together. From our festive Treat or Trunk event to sharing a Thanksgiving dessert, and even meeting El Tió, who surprised us with a special gift, it has been a memorable and rewarding time. We’re ready to build on this momentum and make the 3rd quarter just as amazing!

ELA
The third nine weeks in English Language Arts students will explore nonfiction texts about real people and their strong family connections, completing a book review using opinion writing. They will also examine the effects of descriptive language on the storyline. Students will work on understanding text structures and how the same theme can be expressed across multiple texts. Students will study narrative structure through fairytales and tall tales, reinforcing their understanding of fiction text structures. Students will solidify their knowledge through written responses and oral discussions, both in class and with partners. By completing daily written tasks and collaborating on text structure anchor charts, students will demonstrate their understanding of character behavior, comparing accomplishments, discussing author’s craft, making predictions, summarizing texts, and providing evidence to support their opinions.
