Weekly Update
ATHLETIC DEPARTMENT - Week of March 24, 2024
HIGH SCHOOL ATHLETICS
BASEBALL
Baseball traveled to the Ripken Experience in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina last week. The team played 7 games and had 3 practices over the course of 3 days. See photos below.
GOLF
On Monday, the Eagles flew south to the exclusive and premier Union League National to begin their quest for a South Jersey Group IV title. Senior Ryan Griffin led the way with three birdies and a 37. Seniors Johnny Neveling (41) and Andew Lisa (44) and Junior Chase Adomaitis (45) rounded out the scoring.
On Tuesday, the Eagles took a quick flight to Linwood Country Club to test their talent in the cold wind coming off of the bay. Junior Chase Adomaitis led the way with a 39, while Seniors Johnny Neveling (45), Carson Bellak (45) and Ryan Griffin (46) rounded out the scoring.
On Wednesday, our golf team made history by hosting the inaugural CAL girls regular season event at McCullough’s Emerald Golf Links. Despite the chilly and rainy weather, 32 girls from eight CAL schools showcased their talent and sportsmanship, making it a memorable day for all. The CAL golf coaches spent the off-season thinking of ways to grow the game of golf among our female athletes. There is so much talent among our local girl golfers that do not get as many opportunities to showcase their skills. These weekly individual stroke play events are the best way for these talented student-athletes to not only showcase their game, but also get the competition needed to continue to grow the game in our area. Sophomore Juliana Duggan finished 3rd with a score of 44 while Junior Olivia Nehmad shot 45 to finish T4. Freshman Camille More (52), Sophomore Hazel Burgan (54) and Senior Shelby Barnes (61) rounded out the scoring for the Eagles. The next event is Wednesday 4/10 at Union League National.
FLAG FOOTBALL
Tuesday marked the debut of our Flag Football extravaganza led by Coach Bell and our Flag Football team. With teams from Pleasantville, Cedar Creek, Oakcrest, Millville, Cape May Tech, and Kingsway, the event buzzed with camaraderie, competitive spirit and positive energy. Our team secured a solid victory against Cape May Tech, however they encountered a tough 1-point defeat against Kingsway.
