Student Enrichment Opportunities
At Westview High School, we are committed to providing our students with comprehensive insights into various career pathways, including vocational and trade professions. To this end, we have organized a series of Trade Tuesday presentations for the 2024/2025 academic year. These presentations aim to inspire students who are considering alternative routes beyond traditional four-year college experiences.
Please RSVP in advance to assist us with preparation. Walk-ins are also welcome. Questions can be directed to DBeccarelli@powayusd.com.

Mid Year Reports
Requesting a Mid-Year Report
Please verify if the colleges/universities that you applied to require mid-year reports and transcripts. Most UC & CSU campuses do not require mid-year grades, but some do. Please check your online portal to see if these need to be sent. In order to have the colleges receive these materials, you will need to complete the Mid-Year Report Counselor Request Form. It is critical that you confirm the accuracy of your grades in Synergy prior to completing the form. Once received, we will be submitting via Common App or SCOIR on a weekly basis. Make sure the colleges you applied to are accurate in SCOIR and in your Common App account. You can start requesting mid-year reports on January 7, 2025. The first batch of mid-year reports will be going out on January 21, 2025. The deadline to submit your mid-year report request is February 7, 2025. Please contact your counselor with any questions.
*Form will open first week of January
UC Counselor Updates
After submitting the UC application
Beyond personal information, applicants should be advised that very little information can be updated in the UC application after submission. Applicants are unable to update information included in the “Activities and awards” section or their Personal Insight Question responses. Minor changes to activities, awards, volunteer work or employment are unlikely to have an impact on the admission decision.
Reporting academic changes
For first-year applicants, if there are changes to the students' academic record after they submit their application, such as changing schools, adding/dropping courses or earning a grade lower than a C, they might need to notify the campuses to which they’ve applied. Keep in mind, UC cannot guarantee that a campus can go back to review an application after correspondence has been received.
Campus instructions and websites for reporting changes:
Berkeley will not accept post-submission updates. Any updates that are sent will not be considered in the application reading process.
Davis
Irvine
UCLA — Some post-submission updates will be accepted. Visit the UCLA contact page for further details.
Merced — Post-submission updates are only accepted if the student is admitted. They can click on the “myCourseUpdate” link in their connect portal.
Riverside
San Diego will not accept post-submission updates. Any updates that are sent will not be considered in the application reading process.
Santa Barbara will not accept post-submission updates. Any updates that are sent will not be considered in the application reading process.
Santa Cruz
Transfer applicants will submit academic updates in the Transfer Academic Update (TAU). See further details about the TAU in this bulletin.
If the student receives an offer of admission, students should review their conditions of admission for details on informing their campus of any deficient grades or schedule changes.
Supplemental applications
- An application form
- A submission fee in addition to the UC application fee
- Letters of recommendation
- An audition
- A portfolio
- Videos
- Interviews
- Essays/personal statement
Deadlines for supplemental applications and required materials vary but are strictly enforced. Some require all materials to be submitted in December, with auditions or interviews taking place in January. Please encourage your students to check with the department and campus for current information.
If students do not submit required materials, they will not be considered for admission to that program. In some cases, campuses may not review students who do not submit required supplemental materials for admission to the campus.
Not all campuses have majors or programs requiring supplemental materials. For a complete list of required supplemental applications, see pages 60–61 of the Quick Reference Guide to UC Admissions.

Financial Aid
FAFSA and CADAA now available
The 2025–26 Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and California Dream Act Application (CADAA) are now available to students and families. The CADAA continues to be accessible to California students who are federal aid-eligible and have parents who don’t have a social security number if they experience challenges in completing a FAFSA. The financial aid community will continue to support these students in their pursuit of full financial aid eligibility, which is determined solely by the completion of the FAFSA. In order for students to get their financial aid offers shortly after an offer of admission, UC encourages students to file their FAFSA or CADAA by March 3, 2025.
- We understand that families with diverse immigration statuses may have privacy concerns when completing the California Dream Act Application (CADAA). A statement from the California Student Aid Commission (CSAC) has addressed these concerns and assures students and families of their rights and protections.
- Filing a FAFSA or CADAA is encouraged for all students, whether or not they think they may qualify. With one of the best financial aid programs in the country, nearly 70 percent of California undergraduates at UC receive financial aid, and more than half of them receive enough to cover their UC tuition costs. These figures represent just some of the unknown facts about UC financial aid that may surprise students. Hear from one of our financial aid experts to better understand the cost of attending UC and share our financial aid fact sheet with your students. Further information about UC’s tuition and financial aid can be found on the UC admissions website.

PUSD is partnering with the local organizations featured in this newsletter that is kept updated by my office as I work on developing partnerships with local nonprofits, community organizations and businesses. We would appreciate it if you could post and communicate it to students and parents on an ongoing basis to help fill the need for volunteers by various nonprofits and organizations located within PUSD. It helps build a sense of belonging for our students and community.
Various tutoring options are available on campus in a variety of subject areas. Tutoring is held in the library from 3:45 - 5:00 pm on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays. We also offer one-on-one tutoring. Students can use our One-on-One Tutoring Request 24-25 to request this service. Please share this information with your students that need additional support.
We are also looking for more tutors. If you have students who are willing to volunteer their time and skills, please have them complete our Wolverine Tutor Survey 24-25.
