HFRCS Newsletter July 30, 2024

Dear Parents and Guardians,

July has been a very interesting and exciting time! The 10th National Eucharistic Congress took place July 17-21 in Indianapolis, Indiana. Tens of thousands of pilgrims united in spirit with brothers and sisters across the nation, and worshiped Jesus as the Body of Christ and sought repentance in joy and hope. Then, on July 26, athletes from around the world met in Paris, France to begin the XXXIII Olympiad. The Olympic games will continue until August 11 when they will officially close.

Life continues to be exciting here at school as well! Classrooms and hallways are being cleaned and scrubbed, a new roof was installed over the Large Hall, and books and supplies are filling the hallways, all in preparation for an exciting new school year.

I am pleased to announce that we have hired a new teacher for the PK4B classroom! Mrs. Ryan Turchi will be bringing her enthusiasm and excitement for teaching to her new students and is excited to join the team here at Holy Family! I regret to share that both Mrs. Burns and Mrs. Adler will not be returning to Holy Family for the new school year. Searches are underway to find a new Kindergarten teacher and a part-time Spanish teacher. If anyone in our school community knows of a teacher looking for a new home, please have them contact me.

Our Home and School Association is sponsoring two evenings to visit our Uniform Swap Shop. Monday, August 5 and Tuesday August 6 from 5:30 PM – 7:00 PM, the Swap Shop will be open and uniform pieces will be available to try on. If you need uniform pieces, please come and see what we have available, and if you have uniform pieces to swap, feel free to bring those with you. Uniforms are available to anyone who needs them, regardless of whether you have pieces to swap. As a reminder, boy’s shorts and pants must be the Flynn and O’Hara brand, so the steel gray color is consistent. Also, on Tuesday, August 6, our H&S is sponsoring a fundraiser at JoJo’s Ice Cream and Water Ice on New Falls Road from 11:00 AM to 9:00 PM. Support our school and enjoy a cool sweet treat!

It is hard to believe that Thursday we will begin the month of August! Summer goes by quicker each year! There will be two newsletters sent in August, all in preparation for the new school year!

As a reminder, class lists will not be made available until the last week of August. Class lists can be viewed via the FACTS Family Portal. FACTS Family Portal is also used to view and monitor your student's academic progress and access other school forms (e.g. monthly calendar). The attached document contains instructions on how to set up your FACTS Family Portal Account if you have not created one.

Grades 1-8 summer packets were distributed to the students during the last week of school. New students can pick up summer packets in the office. Please call 215-269-9600 to schedule when you will come pick up a packet. Summer office hours are Monday to Thursday from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM. Thank you.

If your child could use some support to avoid the “summer slide,” please refer to the attachment for the teachers who are available to provide individual and small-group tutoring.

Our Student Referral Incentive Program awards a referring Holy Family Regional Catholic School family with a $200 tuition credit posted in December as a way of saying thank you for your trust and confidence in our school community. See the Student Referral Incentive Program for more information on eligibility requirements for the incentive payment.

Before you purchase new uniforms from Flynn O'Hara (summer and winter uniforms) or Kampus Klothes (gym clothes), come check out the inventory at the Uniform Swap Shop!

The Swap Shop will be open on Monday, August 5th and Tuesday, August 6th from 5:30-7:00 PM.

If you can't find your child's uniform from the Swap Shop:

• Summer/Winter uniforms can be purchased from Flynn O'Hara
• Gym clothing can be purchased from Kampus Klothes (please note that spirit wear is available for purchase from Kampus Klothes but these are NOT to be worn in place of gym uniform.)

If you have uniforms you would like to donate to the Swap Shop, please ensure they are clean and without stains and holes. Uniforms donated must be Flynn O'Hara brand.

Beat the heat and support our school! Jojo's Ice Cream Fundraiser is happening on August 6th from 11:00 AM - 9:00 PM.

We are happy to announce that Holy Family CYO will add VOLLEYBALL for the fall. Practices start as early as Aug 15th. This is open for girls only in Grades 5-8. Practices will be at St. Frances Cabrini gym. Practice dates of Tues and Thurs nights. Season is September to October.
