Commitment Survey Due December 11th
This is a commitment for the first 9 weeks of 2nd semester
Dr. Looney confirmed that the current model of Face-to-Face instruction, with the option for Remote Learning, would continue through the holiday break and during second semester. Similar to the process followed in first semester, parents are being asked through a commitment survey to decide which model they want for their child(ren). Parents must declare their decision by December 11 or their child(ren)’s placement will default to the learning environment they were in as of December 14.
The decision will remain in effect for the first nine weeks of second semester so that schools and teachers can allocate resources and plan accordingly.
Change to School Calendar
The School Board approved changing January 5, 2021, from a regular school day to a teacher workday/student holiday. Since January 5 is a run-off election date and more than 60 schools are polling sites, the decision was made to convert the day to a student holiday. January 6, 2021, now becomes the first day of second semester for students.
Reminder to Students Regarding Masks
Students should not enter the building without wearing a mask.
Thank you for keeping us all safe!

Poetry Winner at AMMS
News to Know November 16, 2020
- Autrey Mill Middle eighth grade student Sanjana Shah has been named a winner in the iWRITE publishing contest for her poem "The Stargazer Call." Every year, iWrite holds an annual publishing contest for students from grades 3-12. The students submit a short story, poem, or illustration. Sanjana's work has been professionally published in the 11th volume of the I Write Short Stories by Kids for Kids anthology.
To recognize and celebrate this year's winners, the organization hosted a virtual event of their Annual iWRITE Book Signing of the anthology on November 14. The event literary theme is Outer Space and features a special guest appearance from Academy Award-winning actor and the author of "Greenlights," Matthew McConaughey. To accommodate a virtual context for the event, iWrite had the winning students send their signatures, and each signature was published in the book with their story or poem. At the event, iWrite announced a new contest posted here.
The mission of iWRITE is to build student confidence through writing, and this event raises funds to support continued programming growth for iWRITE.

Social Hosting
How Do Teens Get Alcohol?
https://preventionactionalliance.org/learn/about-alcohol/how-do-teens-get-alcohol/
What Is Social Hosting?
When of-age adults give or supply alcohol for teenagers, it’s called social hosting. Most often, the term is used to describe hosting large, alcohol-laden parties. Social hosting is also a crime throughout the United States, undermines the parent-child relationship, and harms the physical, mental, and developmental health of youth.
Statistics about Social Hosting
- 72 percent of teens who drink alcohol don’t pay for it.
- For teens who got alcohol in the past six months, parents were the supplier three times.
- Two out of three teens say it’s easy to get alcohol from their homes without parents knowing it.
- Two out of five teens say it’s easy to get alcohol from a friend’s parents.
- One in four teens has been to a party where teens drink in front of parents.
- One in four teens, including one in three girls, say their own parents have given them alcohol.
