3rd Grade Newsletter

Please make sure you are checking your email at least twice a day in the messages tab of the OLS, preferably once in the morning and once in the afternoon. This will make sure that you get important info from your teacher, CFA, principal, etc as soon as possible. We will email you if classes need to be canceled, if you have an assignment to complete in another platform like Seesaw, and other important information. You can also reach out to your teacher this way if you have questions or need help.

Learning Coaches you have a course to complete Online School (OLS). We will talk more about this in class.

We will have Class Connect Sessions in Engagli this year! Info will be coming soon for tech support with Engagli.

This year in ELA, we will be working on:

• Main Idea
• Summarization
• Inferencing
• Writing
• & so much more!

We will be reading so many great stories and books in your classes and OLS lessons. Be sure to keep your curriculum materials in a safe and accessible place so you are ready to use them in class.

It is so important to get into the habit of reading for at least 30 minutes every single day! If you don't already do this, start today! Find books on Big Universe through the OLS or at your local library. Learning coaches, click here for some tips to help your 3rd grader with reading.

Some of the things we will focus on in math this year are:

• Multiplication
• Reading and writing numbers in different forms (standard, word, expanded, etc.)
• Solving real-world problems
• Fractions
• and so much more!

It will be essential to have a good foundation of fact fluency, so be sure to practice your addition, subtraction, and multiplication facts every day!

Dollar Tree stores are an economical place to find math flash cards.

Practice spelling number words, like zero through nineteen, twenty through ninety, hundred, thousand and million.

• Class connect attendance is extremely important in addition to completing online coursework. Please prioritize attending class every day and email all applicable teachers if you know you are going to be absent. Communicate with your homeroom teacher asap about any scheduling conflicts once you have your class schedule.
• Create a family schedule to stay on track with all students' class connects.
• Come to class prepared. Be sure to eat, use the restroom, do chores, etc. before or after class connects. Log in to class a few minutes early with your materials to be ready to start on time.
• All assignments require 80% mastery in order to be marked complete. Click here to watch a video showing how to retake an assessment. If you run out of attempts, contact your homeroom teacher.
• Watch recordings of any missed class connects.
• Clear out browser cache, cookies, and history daily to ensure that your computer runs smoothly with Engagli. Shut down your computer each night.

Students can connect with their classmates and teachers in the Zone! Students can connect with others through video, chat function, and audio. Additionally, the K12 Zone offers many activities for students, such as chess games, tic-tac-toe, library access, scavenger hunts, access to Stride ESports, and much more.

The zone will be open daily at 8:30am and 2:00pm.
