I would like to take a moment to introduce myself and welcome you to our 2024-2025 school year. My name is Alicia Miranda, and I am the Proud Principal for Myrtle Cooper Elementary. On behalf of our faculty and staff we welcome you to The Ship!

Our Dual Language Program is a rigorous program where standards based academic content and literacy are taught in both Spanish and English. Our Pre-K program is a One-Way Dual Language 90/10 Model, which means scholars will receive ninety percent of instruction in their native language and ten percent in the second language. Our academy is committed to produce scholars who are bilingual, bi-literate, and bi-cultural. Our program is designed to address the affective, linguistic, and cognitive needs of each student.

As a campus we believe in keeping our community informed. We promote a strong home/ school partnership. Therefore, our communication is mostly done electronically either through newsletters, email, Class Dojo or text. We encourage you to visit our campus website. A link has been provided below.

First Day of School: Parents will be able to walk students to their classroom. Doors will open at 7:15 am. Parents will be asked to exit the campus by 7:50 am.

2nd day and all other Days:

Parents/Guardians are encouraged to use the drop-off lanes to facilitate our traffic flow. Parents will no longer be allowed to walk students to into the building.

All Pre-K students must complete an online transfer to Myrtle Cooper. If you have not completed your transfer, please use the link below to complete your transfer request:

• 3:15 PM 1st - 5th Dismissal

Please do not drop students off before 7:00 AM, as scholars will not be supervised.
