Welcome Back Eagles!
Professional Development/ Staff Legacy Luncheon
During professional development, in preparation for the new school year,
RES staff spent an afternoon in Myrtle Beach at a legacy luncheon.
Coming together for fellowship and planning for the upcoming year!
BEST 1ST DAY!
Returning to school was celebrated, once again by the
Best 1st Day and this year it was extended to the second day also!
Students began the 2024 - 2025 school with a few dress down days,
prize drawings, and special ice cream treats.
2024 -2025 Theme: Leaving a Legacy
As we have approached this school year, it was important to choose a theme that not only could summarize our goals for the year, but also identify our past.
As we move into this new year, we realize this will be our last year here at RES,
so it was decided this would be our
Legacy Year!
With so many Students, Parents, Staff & Alumni present with us everyday, we also want to make sure throughout the year to recognize how legendary everyone is and the
contributions made everyday to Rosenwald.

I have an amazing selection of educational robots that our students will be exploring. Our lineup includes the Dash Robot, Ozobots, Sphero Indi Robot, Bee-Bots, Sphero Mini Robots, Makebots, Botley Robots, and Lego Spike robots. Each of these robots is designed to engage students in hands-on learning experiences that build foundational skills in coding, problem-solving, and critical thinking. For example:
- Dash Robot: An interactive robot that responds to voice commands and can be programmed to navigate courses, play games, and even interact with other Dash robots. It teaches students the basics of coding, robotics, and computational thinking.
- Ozobots: Small, versatile robots that follow color-coded lines drawn on paper or screens. They teach students about sequencing, logic, and the fundamentals of coding through a highly visual and interactive approach.
- Sphero Indi Robot: A simple, color-sensing robot that helps young students learn coding concepts through play and exploration. It’s a great tool for teaching problem-solving and basic programming.
- Bee-Bots: These easy-to-use, programmable robots are perfect for younger students. They help develop directional language, sequencing, and simple programming skills.
- Sphero Mini Robots: Small, app-controlled robots that introduce students to more advanced coding and programming, including block coding and JavaScript.
- Makebots: These customizable robots can be built and programmed by students, offering a hands-on introduction to engineering, robotics, and coding.
- Botley Robots: Screen-free coding robots that teach the fundamentals of programming through hands-on play, ideal for younger students just starting with coding.
- LEGO Spike Robots: These robots combine LEGO building elements with programmable hardware, allowing students to build, customize, and code their own robotic creations. Students learn how to apply sensors, motors, and coding sequences to bring their creations to life, supporting their creativity and giving them a deeper understanding of how technology works.
By using these robots, my students will gain essential skills like coding, problem-solving, collaboration, critical thinking, and engineering. The Robotics Club will provide a hands-on, creative environment where they can dive deeper into robotics and coding. They'll work on projects that prepare them for real-world challenges and have opportunities to participate in STEM competitions, showcasing their skills and gaining recognition.
This initiative reflects our school community’s commitment to quality STEM education for all students, regardless of background. I'm also proud to have started a Girls Who Code chapter, empowering our female students in computer science. I'm excited to see my students grow, collaborate, and excel in STEM through this program.
