June has arrived and we are quickly approaching the finish line!
As we begin to close off this 2023/24 school year, it has again proven to be a memorable one. Thank you to everyone for working with us this year. Thank you to the entire staff for their care, expertise and exceptional work with our students this year. We were able to enjoy a healthy balance of learning, activities, field trips and fun for our students. JSS staff…you make a difference! Also, a big thank you to our Jack Stuart School (Parent) Council for working so hard to ensure so many positive experiences for our JSS students, and many needed items for our school. To all our parents/guardians, your support and help has been felt and very much appreciated. We could not have gone far without you! Lastly, to our student jaguars, you make our world go around! Special good-bye to our grade 5 students. Our grade 5 farewell is scheduled for Friday, June 14, 2024. Thanks for being you!
JSS students continue to live their School Promise each day (Promise to take care of themselves, each other and JSS, and pledge they won’t forget the promise). Each week, we randomly pick two student Jaguar Cards (from all the student names submitted each month into Jaguar Card Bin) to enjoy a free lunch. 139 JSS students received Jaguar Cards in September, 107 in October, another 224 in November, 120 students in December, 228 more in January, 121 in February, 61 in March, 80 more in April, and 127 in May…for a total of 1207 Jaguar Cards so far this school year. Stay tuned for our June totals. We are very proud of all our students living the school pledge each day.

Overdue Library Book Policy
Library books were due back to school on June 6th. Overdue fines will be sent out to students this week. Please check in your child's backpack to see if you received a notice of any overdue, lost, or damaged books.
Any lost or damaged books can be replaced by sending cash to the school with your student. We will also accept cheques written out to 'Jack Stuart School'.
Any remainder fines (that have not paid directly to the school), will then be added onto student Rycor accounts by the end of the year. At this time these fees will then be required to be paid online.
Thank you for helping your children be responsible for borrowing and taking care of our library books!
JSS Council & Parents' Society
by Terra Manion, President: jackstuartparentadvisory@gmail.com
As per our May meeting, Kimberly Olsen will be the new President of Jack Stuart School (Parent) Council. She is a long time council member and will have 3 children attending Jack Stuart next year.
Welcome Kim and thank you for taking on this position, we wish you all the best.
Terra Manion will remain President of the Parents Society until our AGM in the fall due to some pending playground grant applications. We are still trying very hard to get this playground addition underway for our Excel and Pre-K kids that cannot use any of our existing playground structures.
We are excited to announce that the Parents Society received a $10,000 donation to our playground from The Camrose Family Thrift Shop!
Thank you to everyone that purchased flowers from our Growing Smiles fundraiser and to the volunteers that helped organize the plants.
Thank you to everyone that has donated or purchased from any of our fundraisers and to those that have volunteered to help us with our many projects this year. We couldn’t do it without you!
We are always looking for new people to attend our virtual meetings to add their input, ideas and knowledge to our school council. It’s easy, just pop in and hear what’s happening from the Principal & Assistant Principal, BRSD board trustees, teacher reps and get parent council/society updates. There is no commitment necessary. All are welcome. We will continue to meet once a month beginning in the fall. We hope to see you then.
Have a great summer!
SORA for Summer Reading
BRSD students are now able to log into the Parkland Regional Library through Sora, an eBook and eAudiobook app for students, using their school credentials.
If students visit this library in Sora, they will now see Jack Stuart School as a sign-in option when they borrow a title from the library. Users will have access to content from the public library. Access will be restricted based on the division of the students:
- Juvenile: Grades K-5
- Young Adult: Grades 6-8
- Adult: Grades 9-12 and Staff
Fundraising through the summer with Save-On-Foods
JSS Parents' Society continues its partnership with Save-On-Foods to generate playground funds. Here is how you can help this fundraising effort throughout the summer.
1. Shop at Camrose Save-On-Foods (starting immediately and ongoing).
2. On the back of your receipt write 'Jack Stuart School' or 'JSS'.
3. Give your receipt to any cashier with instructions that it is for the Jack Stuart School's fundraising program.
4. Cashier will then photocopy your receipt and return the original to you.
5. JSS will receive 5% of total purchases made according to the receipts that have been submitted.
6. Money earned will go towards our fully inclusive, zero barrier playground addition.
We wish everyone a wonderful summer holiday!
