We are entering our final month of the 2023-2024 school year. As we begin to wrap things up, it is so rewarding to see all of the progress our students have made. We appreciate the support you have given to your child, the teachers, and our school as we have partnered with you this year. It has been an absolute honor & privilege to serve your family. We have had a great start to our week of Milestones assessments. Thank you for ensuring we had terrific student attendance throughout the week. We look forward to getting our scores back!

We look forward to celebrating our amazing teachers and staff next week during Teacher & Staff Appreciation Week. Here are some ideas for showing your child's teacher(s) some love.

If you have a child entering Pre-K at BES in the 2024-2025 school year, this event is for you. We look forward to meeting all of our future STARS!

We are blessed to have a wonderful school nurse at BES, Mrs. Moira Bernard-Moore! We will honor her on her special day, May 8. We hope you might take a moment to send her a note of appreciation. We love you, Nurse Moira!

If you will have a kindergarten student in 2024-2025, this event is for you! We hope to see you there!

One of our students will be performing at the BCSS Newcomer Academy's event on Thursday, May 16. We look forward to attending and supporting our very own Amin Morales! Join us if you can!

We look forward to seeing our amazing students perform during our annual BES Talent Show. If your child is interested in auditioning, the forms and videos are due this Friday, May 3. Mrs. Boswell will be finalizing our list of performers soon! We will have two show times on Friday, May 17. Both shows will have the same acts, so you may choose which show works best for your schedule. We hope to see you there!

We are excited to honor former BES students who are part of the 2024 graduating class of Apalachee High School or Barrow Arts and Sciences Academy. The former STARS have been invited to walk our halls in their caps and gowns on Monday morning, May 20 at 9:00 AM. This is always a very special time for us, as we get to celebrate our former students.

The last day of school is May 22. We will be dismissing at 10:45 that day.

Report Cards will be sent home with students and/or parents in grades 1-5 may access the information on Parent Portal.

Our school will be going through its second phase of renovations this summer. We are set to get porcelain tiles in all of the corridors, a new gym floor, and a new HVAC system. We will also have some exterior painting completed and are set to install a new monument sign near the road. We are excited about this next phase of work and look forward to showing it off to you at Open House in July!

Open House is scheduled for Tuesday, July 30 from 8:00-10:00 AM. Please mark your calendars.

Teachers will be reaching out to families the week before to notify you of class placements.

Please note: Rosters will be fluctuating throughout the summer. If you happen to see your child has been assigned to a homeroom, that assignment could change prior to August 1. You will know the final placement when you are contacted by the teacher when teachers return the week of July 24. Thank you for your understanding.

All 2024-2025 Before/After School applications and registration fees will be collected in person at Open House. We will not be taking any pre-registrations, so plan to be here as soon as our doors open. The After School Program will receive applications and payments in the cafeteria that morning. Based on available staffing, we will have a set amount of students we can serve. We will then have a waiting list for those who do not get a spot. More information will be shared prior to Open House through our website, the Remind app, and our social media channels, so stay tuned!

We will hold our 2024-2025 BES Commitment Night on Thursday, August 22 at 6:00 PM. This will be a fun-filled night where families will get to spend time in their child's classroom, learn about the teacher and our school, and make a commitment to work together as a team (school, family, and student) during the school year. Students who attend and complete/sign the School-Family Compact will receive some goodies, including a BES t-shirt for your student to wear throughout the school year. We hope to see you there!
