The Wolf Weekly
NRHS Principal's Newsletter
Newsletter Week of September 19, 2021
I hope you are enjoying this beautiful fall Sunday and got the opportunity to be outside today. This past Friday we had our first home football game that resulted in a win over Algonquin and two exciting victories for girl's varsity volleyball and boy's varsity soccer. It was wonderful to see all the activity on campus Friday afternoon and the packed student section at the football game.
This week, on Monday and Tuesday, our 10th graders will be participating in Challenge Day. Challenge Day is a research based and highly successful full day program focused on social emotional learning and building empathy and compassion in communities. It has been implemented in thousands of schools across the United States and was very successful here at Nashoba several years ago. Due to the challenges presented by the COVID-19 pandemic, NRHS is committed to implementing Challenge Day over the next three years and possibly longer. This year, our focus is on grades 9 and 10.
To implement Challenge Day well, there needs to be enough staff involvement. As such, a number of our staff members are participating once over this two day period. Students whose teachers are participating will be sent work over Google Classroom and will have a supervised directed study.
10th graders and their families have been sent multiple communications about Challenge Day and our 9th graders will be receiving this information soon for their sessions in November.
I have included links to the Challenge Day website as well as a video created by Nashoba students who participated in Challenge Day several years ago. It is a powerful day for students.

Have a wonderful week Nashoba!

NRHS currently does not have a PTO (Parent Teacher Organization) and I am looking for parents/guardians who are interested in getting involved. The PTO works to encourage interaction between family and school, serve as a source of support, and work with teachers, staff, and the community at large to improve our children's educational experience.
College Visits to NRHS
September 13th begins College Rep Visits. Over 70 colleges and universities will be visiting Nashoba to visit with our Seniors. This is an opportunity to hear about schools that students may be interested in. Remember....the Rep may actually be the Admissions Counselor who reads Nashoba's applications.
Students should notify their teachers before attending and should NOT miss any exams/quizzes or presentations. Students will be excused from any classes they miss but are responsible for any work assignments.
Sign up in Naviance today!
