The STEM Scoop
May 26th - The One Where They Finished Strong
This is it!
To our 8th grade families.....I am going to miss seeing your learners each day. I am going to miss them stopping by and visiting my office or saying "hi" in the hallways. I will miss hearing about their afterschool activities, pets, older siblings, younger siblings. I will miss celebrating their successes and their failures. BUT I am so excited for them to move onto high school and take everything they've learned and experienced at JKSA with them. Please keep in touch! I still hear from last year's 8th graders and it truly brings me joy when I get an update on how they are doing. Please read the message Mr. Lindsey sends tonight, there are some memories included so have the tissue handy :).
To our 6th and 7th grade families.....I am going to miss seeing your learners over the summer and I know we will have a great time next year. Please take time to let them rest, have fun, and explore this summer!
Until next year.....

Proof of Residence
Dear Parent/Guardian:
Mansfield ISD welcomes you and your family to a new school year! Before school starts in August, all students are required to provide proof of residence (POR).
All families with returning students to Mansfield Independent School District have 2 options:
You are encouraged to take your proof of residence to the campus, if possible.
Otherwise, you may email their proof of residence to your student’s current campus at: JKStem_POR@misdmail.org
PLEASE NOTE: Each campus has their own email address, so if you have multiple students at different campuses, you will need to send a separate POR to each campus’ email.
Satisfactory proof of residence includes:
- Electric, Gas, or Water Bill – with May service dates or later
Newly Established Residency in last 30 days includes:
- Lease Agreement
- The lease agreement may be acceptable if it is new (30 days or less).
- Is used when you do not have a utility bill and the lease states bills are paid by lessor.
- Other documentation may be requested when a utility bill is not available.
- The lease agreement must list the student occupants.
Any of the above forms of proof of residency utilized by MISD residents must show a service address. Lease agreements must show a beginning and ending date and the address of the property with signatures from both the lessor and lessee. Families who have a contract on a home that will close within 45 days of the beginning of school, will need to confer with Student Services on applicable Board Policies and guidelines for enrollment. Failure to provide the necessary documentation may result in enrollment delays or withdrawal from school.

Mansfield ISD Reads
7th & 8th Grade English/Language Arts/Reading
7th & 8th Grade Pre-AP English/Language Arts/Reading
Independent reading has many benefits:
● Support student’s growth
● Improves vocabulary
● Improves comprehension
● Improves test scores
● Improves writing skills
Transitioning from "Pre-AP" to "Advanced"
Due to changes by College Board, MISD will be changing the title of courses titled “Pre-AP” to “Advanced” beginning in the 2021-22 school year. This change will ONLY be in title, as curriculum and services will remain the same. For more information on this, CLICK HERE for a statement from MISD.
Please keep in mind that "advanced" is not the same as accelerated and at JKSA both our math and science is accelerated so that learners are able to take Algebra I and Biology I as 8th graders.
