The Buzz
SPRING TERM - 30TH JANUARY 2025

Message from the Head of School
Well done to 2D for their class assembly last week. It was lovely to see the class working together as a team to share their excellent learning with their families. We look forward to 2M's class assembly this Friday at 2:30pm.
Please be careful when carrying umbrellas on site during busy drop off and pick up times, particularly at child height. There was a near miss with a child nearly getting hurt this week.
We still need some volunteers for the Reception RP library visit Monday 10th March - from 9am to 11.30am. Contact the school office if you are available to help.
Last week the Executive Leadership team met with wrap around care providers at The Linden Club, Munchies and Aston Club to explore what is on offer for our children and the current vacancies. It was reassuring to hear that although some sessions are full, there are spaces available across the three providers every morning and afternoon.
Whilst The Den is sadly closing from September 2025, the leadership team of HPP are in communication with the owners of the site and will pass along any information regarding the future of the site as soon as possible.
Reminder that nursery drop of is at 8.30am - 8.35am; please endeavour to arrive on time as it can be disruptive for the class when the teachers have to keep leaving the classroom to let in late arrivals. Thank you for your co-operation.
Finally thank you to parents who have given us such positive feedback on the new streamlined Buzz.
Have a lovely weekend

Year 1
In English, we have continued with our focus text ‘Katie in London’. This week we have built upon our previous learning of the London Landmarks featured in the story and have written our own recount from the perspective of Katie and Tom. We sequenced the places that Katie and Tom visited and retold the story using time connectives (First, Then, Next, After that, Finally).
Maths - we have been building on our understanding of numbers, to compare pairs of numbers, and order numbers, up to and including 20. We have been using ten frames and number lines to support our learning, using the inequality symbols and the language of ‘greater than’, ‘less than’ and ‘equal to’ to describe our findings.
Science - we have begun to think about the ways in which deciduous trees change throughout the autumn months and then through the winter. We have also discussed how some animals begin to prepare for hibernation ready for the colder months and which clothes we might wear to keep warm ourselves.
History - we have been looking at how planes have evolved over time and the impact these have had on our lives, from travelling abroad on holiday to moving products and cargo around the world, as well as the effect this has had on the environment.
In dance this week, we have been using our counts to 8 to explore speed and actions in a pirate-inspired dance. We looked at different actions, levels and pathways we could use to interpret our pirate theme and put these into a sequence to create a group routine.
We are still practising our throwing technique in PE, focusing on the development of a passing for accuracy and distance using both underarm and over arm passes.
We have continued to use the beebots in computing this week, practising our programming skills to move them forwards and backwards. We gave the beebot instructions by pressing the buttons on the top to program a sequence of movements from one point to another, making predictions and debugging as we went through the process.
