Coloma Junior High
Week of January 6th
Welcome Back from Winter Break
I hope that everyone had a safe and restful winter break. We are excited to return for the start of 2nd semester.
Second Semester Preparation
When students return on Monday we will post class lists of 1st hour classes in the hallways. Students will report to their 1st hour class to receive a copy of their 2nd semester classes, locker combinations and usernames and passwords. Some students will have schedule changes for 2nd semester, but not all. We also recognize that sometimes students forget their locker combinations and passwords with having a 2 week break, so we try to make sure everyone has what they need.
Winter sports
On Jan. 6th practices for 7th and 8th grade girls basketball will begin as well as MS wrestling. Don't forget that students must have a physical on file with Big Teams in order to participate.
Tutoring Program
Coloma Community Schools is pleased to extend its commitment to providing tutoring services to students across all grade levels. This program, generously funded by a grant from the state of Michigan, enables certified educators to work with students to address any knowledge gaps that the students may have. This program is beyond simple homework completion.
All families eligible and are kindly requested to complete the provided form to register for this complimentary program. We anticipate starting the program in the second or third week of January. Should you have any inquiries, please do not hesitate to contact the program coordinator, Daniel Mares, at dmares@ccs.coloma.org.
8th Grade Scheduling for High School
It is hard to believe that we are already making plans for High School with your 8th graders, but here we go!
After the first of the year we will begin having conversations with students regarding their high school schedule and 4 year plans. As part of this process, on Friday, January 10th our 8th grade students will attend a presentation that will review all of the elective choices at the High School. It will be important for your child to be in attendance that day as this is the only opportunity that this information is presented in it's entirety.
Students will meet with our High School Counselor to make their course selections in their US History class on February 28th.
