The Eagle Express
Week of: 10/18/24
A Note:
It is definitely starting to feel like fall outside! Thanks for helping your students dress in layers! We live in a fantastic location where you might need hat/gloves at 9am and a t-shirt by 4pm!
The next two weeks are our Conference Window! We are looking forward to discussing your student(s) progress with you. Your child's classroom teacher will communicate the schedule with you (please bring your driver's license if your conference happens before school, during school or before 4:05pm). If you have not yet scheduled a conference with them, please do reach out. Our partnership is vital to our student success.
With Gratitude,
Angela Patterson, Principal

ACT 20 Legislation
Act 20 is Wisconsin legislation in support of ensuring all kindergarten through 3rd grade students can read proficiently by the end of third grade. The law was enacted in 2023 and the requirements are being implemented for the 2024-2025 school year.
The law's purpose is to provide guidance of evidence-based reading practices, evaluate early literacy skills, ensure all kindergarten through third grade and special education educators are equipped with the proper knowledge to teach reading, and document and enhance communication across stakeholders.
A universal reading screening assessment is administered to students three times per year. Students performing at or below the 25th percentile on this screener are then given an additional diagnostic assessment to determine the need for any further intervention.
If further intervention is necessary, a Personal Reading Plan is created for the student which includes goals, interventions, and progress monitoring.
If you have any questions, please reach out to your building principal.

Help Needed in the Library!
We are looking for a morning volunteer to come and check in library books approximately once or twice a week. The time frame is about an hour - from 9-10am.
Please email julie.myszkowski@nbexcellence.org if you can help!
Recorder Information for 4th Grade Families
During the school year all 4th graders will be learning to play recorder in General Music Class. Students will use Yamaha soprano 3-piece recorders. (We use the same brand so students within the same classes are in tune with each other.) This year all of the recorders will be ivory.
The cost of the recorders is $5.75 each. The school will be placing an order for all Reagan 4th graders, and the charge will be added to your student’s account. However, if your family already has a Yamaha soprano 3-piece recorder (perhaps from an older sibling), your child may use it for class. If you already have a recorder, please let Mrs. Schilling know by emailing Christina.Schilling@nbexcellence.org by
Mon., Oct. 21st, and the charge will be removed from your student’s account.
Students will need a folder for their recorder materials. Any 2 pocket folder will work.
Mrs. Eichstaedt’s and Mrs. Powers’ classes already have folders set aside. Ms. Mau’s and Mrs. Slavik’s classes should bring folders by Mon., Oct. 21, please.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Schilling
RR Music
Fall Parties
Our fall parties at RR will take place on Thursday, October 31st (our ELP 3 and EC classrooms will communicate their times/days) Your student's classroom teacher will communicate the exact times/activities with you.
A few reminders about costumes:
- Students cannot wear their costumes all day
- Costumes that include extreme blood/gore are not allowed
- Weapons for costumes are not allowed
- Students should be able to get into and out of their independently. Our staff do not have the capacity/time to dress over 20 kids in each class :)
Thank you for your support!
Fall Conference Dates
Per the 2024-2025 school calendar, teachers must hold parent-teacher conferences during the weeks of 10/21 and 10/28. At Ronald Reagan, we have selected two common nights that the majority of our conferences will be held:
- Thursday, October 24; 4:30-7:30
- Wednesday, October 30; 4:30-7:30
Selecting two common dates helps our specialist teachers be available, as well as our special education staff.
Teachers may still schedule conferences outside of those two dates to accommodate family schedules. Your student's homeroom teacher will reach out with exact times to sign up.
We look forward to continuing to partner with you to support your student's learning here at Ronald Reagan!
