A Place Where Performance Elicits Pride
Message from the Principal
We are quickly approaching the end of the 2nd Quarter at the end of next week. Our teachers and staff have been busy completing various benchmark assessments to measure students' progress since the beginning of the year. We will take Winter MAP Testing in both ELA and Math when we return from break in January. This is a great opportunity for us to celebrate the growth our students have made since the beginning of the year in addition to providing the opportunity to make necessary adjustments to our instruction to best meet the needs of our students.
One bit of recent news that I wanted to highlight was that for the very first time, Oregon Elementary School was recognized as one of US News and World Report's Best Public Elementary Schools. This recognition is reserved for the Top 25% of schools and is determined by using publicly available data such as that found on the Illinois School Report Card. I am proud of our staff for the continued work they have done to improve our student learning outcomes and grateful that they can be recognized in this manner. Our staff does incredible things for kids each day and put in many unseen hours to provide a positive school experience and this recognition is a testament to that work!
In the link below, you will find the Board Presentation created for this month's Board of Education Meeting. This video provides an overview of our school's progress towards our School Improvement Goals and specific things we are in the process of doing to continue to improve outcomes for students. In years past our presentations were done in person at the school board meeting, but we have switched to a video format to allow all stakeholders access to the presentation. I encourage you to watch the video and welcome any questions/feedback you may have.
Go HAWKS!!!
