Principal Corner
ear Roosevelt Parents/Guardians,
Recently, your child received the first trimester report card. This document reflects the hard work and progress your child has made during the school year. In addition, the report card indicates areas for growth and improvement. I encourage you to take time to review the report card with your child. Below I have listed some suggestions to consider as you discuss the report card:
*Let your child give you his/her first impressions of the report card. Allow your child the opportunity to highlight areas of strength and interest.
*Let your child point out areas for growth and improvement
*Work with your child to identify goals and some simple steps your child can take to realize those goals.
*Pay attention to the backside of the report card. This shows progress your child is showing with appropriate school behavior.
*Take time to carefully review the progress being made in our specials program such as Art, Music, PE, etc…
*Ask your child to comment on their overall school experience. Have them comment on their friends in class and at school. Have them discuss their daily schedule of activities.
Report card time is an opportunity to celebrate progress and the love of learning. Keep your child motivated and inspired by making time to discuss the school year and the many experiences your child is having in elementary school. Finally, feel free to contact me at any time if you have any questions regarding our educational programming.
Have a wonderful day!
Dr. Dwyer

Important Change To PowerSchool
PowerSchool Parent Portal Password Update: District 64 cares about the security of your student's personal information. Effective December 13th, we will be requiring all parents to create a minimum 12-character password for their PowerSchool Parent Portal account. Strong passwords are of the utmost importance - they protect your electronic accounts and devices from unauthorized access, keeping your sensitive personal information safe. The more complex the password, the more protected your information will be from cyber threats and hackers.
Holiday Sing
Cold Weather Guidelines
Students spend approximately half the lunch hour eating and the remainder at supervised recess outdoors, weather permitting. Students will have indoor recess once the temperature gets to 0 degrees. We will continue to go outside until the "feels like" is below 9. Please make sure your student is dressed appropriately for the temperature outside.

Our next session begins on Tuesday, January 14th, 2025. This free program meets every Tuesday, from 5:30 - 6:30 pm, at the Park Ridge Community Church.

How To Sign Up For D64 Text Alerts
Our text messaging system is used in various ways, including notifying staff and the community of a school closing due to weather. Anyone who’d like to receive these messages has to opt-in to get them. It’s important to note that the text messaging services will not replace any school emails or calls you receive but will be used supplementally to bring you important information quickly.
If you’ve already signed up for the text alerts in the past, you do not have to do it again.
How to receive text messages:
You must opt-in to receive text messages. To do so, you will need to text “Y” or “Yes” to 67587.
If you’d like to no longer receive District 64 text messages, you have to send “Stop” to 67587.
Once you text “yes,” you will receive a confirmation text from SchoolMessenger that is similar to the following:
“You’re registered 4 SchoolMessenger notifications. Reply stop to cancel, HELP for help. Msg&data rates may apply. Msg freq varies. schoolmessenger.com/txt”
