Weekly Newsletter
WEEK OF JANUARY 6
As we step into 2025, let’s celebrate all we’ve accomplished together and look forward to the exciting opportunities ahead. To our students, dedicated staff, and supportive families—thank you for making our school a place of growth, connection, and success.
This year, let’s continue to uplift one another, embrace new challenges, and keep our collective purpose- the overall growth and well-being of our students- at the center of the work we do.
Wishing you all the very best in 2025!
A Proud Roybal Moment!
We are thrilled to share that Albert Rutledge, a former Roybal student from our Film and Television
Magnet, will take the stage as a Golden Globe Award presenter at the 82nd Golden Globe Awards!
As a second-year CSUN Film student, Albert is making remarkable strides in his career, and we couldn't be prouder of his achievements. This moment reflects the incredible talent, dedication, and potential of our students and the result of our teachers and staff believing in our students and setting them up for success!

Instructional Resources and Support
-With Tutor.com's Dropoff Essay Review tool, students can submit their work and receive custom feedback in five rubric-based categories and in-line feedback on their written work. Each tutor spends between 30-35 minutes per student paper, and this feedback is visible to teachers via the Teacher Dashboard. This can be used as a way to support rough draft essay review.
-Textbook schedule for staff with semester courses can be found here with date and time for pick up
-Observation Feedback is logged in the MyPGS system. Please note, you are to reply to feedback via the platform within 2 weeks of the observation. Your observation will be finalized once the response is received. In some cases, your department administrator will schedule an observation debrief to discuss the lesson observed.
-As always, please ensure your white board configuration (agenda, learning objective, language goal, etc) is posted and visible for everyone throughout the period, including the WASC Instructional Strategy that will be utilized for the lesson.
-Helping students process their thoughts and feelings about the world and creating space for them to bring their full selves to school is essential. To support this, Human Relations, Diversity and Equity (HRDE) has curated resources on Elections, Civics, and Courageous Conversations.

CULTURE OF CARE
Attention Staff, Parent/ Guardians, School Community Members and Students!
We are excited to announce that the dates for our PBIS (Positive Behavioral Interventions and Supports) meetings are now available! We invite you all to join us and make your voice count.
Your support is crucial in creating a positive school culture, and together, as a village, we can uplift and support all our students.

Restorative Justice
Are you a student interested in learning more about Restorative Justice, or want to learn how to host a circle? Please use this QR Code and fill out the interest survey. Have any questions please visit RJ Morales
Students, please remember that cell phones should not be used during class time, as we want everyone fully engaged in learning. Teachers, thank you for consistently enforcing our policy—if a student is caught using their phone after a warning, it will be placed in a pouch to avoid distractions. Let’s work together to keep our classrooms focused and productive!
Daily Tardy Sweeps
Tardy sweeps are conducted daily to ensure all students arrive on time. We encourage everyone to be in class promptly, as being on time is crucial for maximizing learning and success. Arriving on time shows responsibility and ensures you don’t miss valuable instructional time. Let’s make punctuality a priority!
Titan News: Hall Pass & Restroom Reminders!
Titans, to help keep everyone on track and safe, remember that hall passes are available only 15 minutes before and after the bell rings. Restrooms will also be closed during these times. With our class periods being short, it’s important we stay in class to learn as much as possible. Please use passes quickly and responsibly so all students can benefit. Thank you for helping keep our school a positive, focused place for everyone!
ATTENDANCE MATTERS: EVERY DAY COUNTS
Never Miss a Beat, Always in Your Seat!
We want to stress the importance of sending your student to school every possible day. Every year, absences spike in the weeks before and after a holiday as families extend their vacation days. We know that just a few missed days, even if they are excused absences, can add up to a loss of learning time and put your student behind in school.
We only have 5 school days left!! Students, you will then receive your final grades for the fall semester. These are the grades that will be on your transcript and colleges & universities will see. Let’s make every day count!
